What's a class that can solo NM in abyssea if they have the right gear and atmas?

It really depends on what you are soloing.

With temps, a lot of evasion jobs can solo many of the weaker NMs. Certain other jobs using unusual job setups can do strange things as well - for example, I've heard of a White Mage soloing Mangy-Tailed Marvin using /MNK and some atma.

For slightly more traditional solos, Dancer can solo certain mobs, but the more difficult solos are usually done by a Beastmaster or Summoner. Beastmasters have more durable pets, but Summoners kill things faster.

You won't be able to solo everything (unless you plan on using lots and lots of brews) and nor will you want to. But you can solo a fair amount of mobs, so long as getting procs isn't super important.

For chest farming KI for certain NMs you may find RDM or PLD faster for solo farming large amounts of chests.

Of course, with all this, get a decent evasion centered damage dealer and a White Mage and you'll have more things open up to you.

Can Beastmaster solo Ironclad Sunderer?

Haven't tried it on bst, only because smn excels so well in that fight. If it's not broke...etc etc.

Can Beastmaster solo Ironclad Sunderer?

With enough patience and a willingness to do it with with almost no procs, yes. It might be a good option if you're only after the plates, since Dipper Yuly can apply Treasure Hunter. A competent Black Mage can also solo it, I assume faster, with a significantly higher chance of getting a yellow proc and obtaining Seals of Job Underwears. I guess which job is preferable depends on which items you're after.

An Ironclad Whatever is a weird example, since Red Mage, Black Mage, or Scholar perform so well against that family of monsters.
