I'd post this in the world section but I feel that it will not get that much attention.
It would be nice to finally be able to level up other jobs/content that aren't 75+ oriented.
I know that's the main focus but, it'd be nice to level up my lower jobs, finish expansions
(because yes, I could never get anyone to help seeing as I played on/off forever)
I guess what i'm asking is there a LS that actually focuses on more than just Abyssea?
I'm on Phoenix server. Came from Asura.
And let me just squeeze this in here - I'm looking for friends and help.
Your snarky comments on how I haven't finished expansions, Abyssea is god blah blah
aren't what i'm looking for. Just a heads up.

Please don't assume we're all just going to give you snarky comments about being a filthy noob. Oops. D:
There are a lot of areas to level up, even outside Abyssea. Look out of Grounds of Valor areas, since they provide exp that puts Abyssea to shame before level 75. Key leveling spots are Gusgen Mines, Crawlers' Nest, and Bostaunieux Oubliette.
There is a lot to this game outside Abyssea, especially for people who spent most of the last five to nine years mostly leveling and struggling to do content with people. But the bottom line is you will want to get to 90 before doing many of the missions and endgame things because they are so much easier to do at higher levels.
Ignoring the nation mission lines (actually, I'm going to ignore them this entire post), there is a huge amount of content in this game. ZM, CoP, ToAU, WotG, and three mini-expansions could take you ages, and that's ignoring all the non-endgame stuff, like Dynamis, Nyzul Isle, Salvage, Assault, Sky, etc.
A big problem with finding a group of people is finding a balanced group that is reliable enough to gather every Saturday night to static it out (the exact time is unimportant, just that you gather at a scheduled time). If you can defeat this, you can do everything.
If you can find a static, I suggest at least having two nights a week. Dedicate one to an endgame event like climbing Nyzul, doing all the assaults, farming Dynamis gear, or doing something in Abyssea (okay, I know you said outside Abyssea, but it is still endgame content too). Dedicate the other to doing missions, because Final Fantasy actually has some storyline.
If you plan on doing the storyline in order from least to best, I'd suggest (and I'll include the Abyssea storyline for reference) something along the lines of this:
ACP < AMK < ASA < ZM < Abyssea < ToAU < WotG <<< CoP
Of course, this is just my opinion of which had the best story. Well, except for CoP, it is a fact that CoP has the best storyline in the game. :p
Anyways, do whatever expansions you can manage. Since ToAU has a ton of "Japanese Midnight" wait periods, I'd do that between other missions too. Also, for most of these, you can probably do a good chunk of the missions at your current level before you get into the super high level content, although you might need help with certain battlefields, namely with ZM early on. If you ever get confused about what to do, hit up FFXIclopedia for a walk-through, or better yet, ask someone in your linkshell.
If you do all these missions, you will get a lot of enjoyment out of the game, and also, a good feel for the game map, since all of these will have you running around Vana'diel like a Chocobo with its head on fire.
I wish I could help you more, but wrong server and stuff. But I'm sure you'll find people who you can work with, every server has its share of golden apples. Good luck!

Grounds of Valor provide good level up options out of Abyssea.
If you want to think outside the box, I'm sure there are some like minded people out there who don't mind stopping to smell the roses.
That said, I don't really see any reason to go out of one's way to avoid abyssea other than to reminisce of days of old.
