Finally, I got my airship pass today! I'm so happy!
Doing the Magicite Bastok quest was a little hard at level 42, I let the Yagudo guarding the torch door in Castle Oztroja kill me - though I had reraise buffed, then I just ran and lit the door before they respawned :)
Getting the airship pass was a great feeling of accomplishment for me. So very happy!!

First time I got airship pass I felt amazing. Went to every city like six times. However, do yourself a favor and learn about the chocobo circuit. It puts the airships to shame.

Gratz on doing that solo at 42, the Beadeaux NM fights can be interesting if their friends come to say 'Hi'. ;)
BTW, have you come across the 'find the passenger' quests? You can get them from the city->Jeuno flights (not from Jeuno), talk to the NPCs after you've got through the departure door, there's always one who gives you the quest (another tells you the time you're going to have to wait for the ship to arrive).
You get gil that pays for the trip, gives you a little rep. and can be fun of you don't AFK while flying.

Unless you're using the Rousney Wand, you exit from whatever city you entered from.
Now, City-warp Earrings from Synergy put airships to shame, and they're actually fairly cheap. Someone can craft them for you as well if you don't have the skills; you just have to have the Synergy unlocked + ingredients & fewell.

Actually, you can solo make those warp earrings yourself, without any skill at all. You just need to know how to do synergy, which doesn't take long to learn, and you can literally do it yourself. I do all the time! I even do it for my 2nd character.
