View Full Version : Lvl 99 gear idea

I highly doubt this will be taken into consideration. But the beauty of these forums is that people can make the suggestion anyway!

With level 99 cap being the new standard, new special equip pieces are sure to follow. But with so many out their already, its highly annoying to have another full set of armor. Especially with the drastic amount of equip released with each 5 level increase. Upgrading existing equip is an idea, but again with so many its hard to do. And its even harder to keep a balance between them.

Now personally, iv always hated the idea of macro'ing equipment in for each little thing you do. I find it highly annoying, and can take up a lot of space, even for just one job. Much less 20.

So i was thinking of a level 99 set of super gear. A job specific set of gear that is completely customizable in terms of stats. And not just one or two like the add-on pieces. But full on. (within certain limits of equip).

The two problems/questions left would be: 1 how to obtain said armor. And 2 what about every other end game armor set that would be left behind. Both of which can be answered at once. With the augments being implemented, even the end game armor would still be useful, so those without this set would still find them highly useful.

But this set would be clearly desirable so it would need a level of acquisition that matches the reward. Which would be the surreal task of trading in each piece of End game armor set for that slot.

Example: Say i wanted to acquire the Drk body piece of this new set. I would have to trade the following.

Bale Cuirass +2 (Abyssea)
Askar Korazin (Nyzul)
Iron Ram Hauberk (Campaign)
Abyss Cuirass +1 (Dyna)
Shadow Breastplate (Einherjar)
Homam Corazza (Limbus)
Ares's Cuirass (Salvage)
Amir Armor Set (Assult)
??? (In case i forgot any)

Would require the fully upgraded Drk Body piece from each main Event in FFXI. It would require a massive amount of time and work. But would yield quite a massive reward. It would also give players a need to do all former Events again, and spark a new life into them.

The time it would take would be insane, but after the implication of things like old school relic weapons, magian weapon trials, and the Emp weapons of today, it seems SE is well into doing things like this take would take insane amounts of time. Yet, since most don't need full alliances to do anymore, its still feasible.

I'd rather not grind through ye olde events again unless they add new challenges.

IIRC, FF series have used synthesis in a way that involved combining different weapons and armors to create new armors.

What it would have to do combine all the stats. The highest stat always trumps. So you'd have the Attack from Shadow Breastplate, and the Accuracy of the Homam Corazza, etc.

This idea is cool, but very radical, and I can already hear Camate saying,"This would be pretty difficult to implement." He might even upgrade that to the rarely used,"This wouldn't currently be feasible." This is one of those ideas that can be chalked up to "idle fancy."

I mean, wouldn't it be cool if there were Flying Chocobos like in FF Tactics? Sure, it would be cool, but I can't help but think that thought could be put into things that have a higher probability of being implemented. I'm not saying, "Don't make threads like this." I'm just saying you can be imaginative and practical at the same time.

I didn't see it being to hard to implement. We trade in things for another item all the time. And they already had the small customizables form the Add on series. This would just be a version of all that

and ill be the first to agree, the griding would suck. But thats part of why i think SE would implement it.

with the 99 cap looming over us, i figured id bump this.

Maybe not exactly what i said up their, but i do like the overall idea behind it. And with the devs plans to revamp all the old end game content, i think it would make this (or something similar) viable.

(and besides, with everyone wanting such great things from each and every end game content so they have a reason to do it again.. every single one cant have top tier armor. If they did, people would pick one and forget the rest as they usaly do. This would help give a reason to do each and every one)
