So I have been trying to get the PS3 controller to work for about 4-5 hours. Finally got the PC to recognize it and all the buttons are perfect except the FREAKING D-pad and 2 analog sticks. I know there is info all over the place but I just can't seem to make sense of it. I go to calibrate analog sticks and to be honest it kind of confusing me (asking about slider, dial, x,y,z-axis :confused:). Any info on how to get this up and running would be greatly appreciated as its the only thing that I cannot get to work. Also Windows 7 32bit.

Perhaps it's better to purchase an PC controller which has the same shape as an PS2 controller ?
You will get the exact same layout, "sans" that STUPID trigger like L2 and R2 buttons which serves only those who play FPSes and love to press accidentally when you put the controller on the table to do something else.

The problems you're having come from the fact that the PS3 controller was never designed to work on the PC and due to that, you need to resort to "hackware solutions" based on programming made by people who once "got it working" stopped on working to improve it/make it easier to use.

The AXIS thing comes from the fact that certain functions of the controller are analog so they're read as "gauges" not just simple on/off toggles.

The PS3 controller is for... a PS3. Stop banging your head against a wall and just purchase a PC controller.

Basically the same thing as I said on my post, but he was a bit economical on the word count ... ;)

You might need a converter to have it work properly, unsure though if there are such things as I have never looked into it personally, except for just now due to this and it would seem most, if not all, are just converters for the PS2 controller, which I have actually tested myself and 1/2 converters I've tried, works (nicely even).

Little bit more research shows that instead of a converter, unsupported and unofficial software can be used as oliveira mentioned.

As for this forum, you will likely not get official support for this issue here since it's not exactly a Final Fantasy XI technical problem. ^^;

Good luck!

Motion in Joy is actually what I was referring to as "hackware" ... lol
And I suppose it's what the OP was setting up when he was trying to get it working.
