Maybe we should give SE a perspective of how much money they plan on losing because of this change, while it may not sound like a lot for one person to say they aren't playing, if you add it all together I"m sure it'll add up to quite a bit.
I'll start out first and try to update it based on the number of people who don't plan on playing after this month.
From what I know there are about 10 people who won't be playing after this month on my end.
Average=$15
1 month=$150
12 months=$1800
Right off the bat SE would be losing 1800 a year from us. Now I kindly ask all of you that know people who aren't going to be playing after this month or if you yourself aren't going to be playing to reply with the number of people you know that won't be playing after this month. I just think that if SE actually saw the amount of dollars they are going to be losing over this they may seriously consider trying to remedy this before the end of the month.

This was tried already and SE nuked the thread, good luck with this attempt though. I'll be done at the end of this month, 2 accounts with 1 mule each, so $27.90 a month lost from me.

In before thread nuke. $14.95 of my money goes toward another MMO come Sept 1 even though I quit my main a while back.
The fact they nuked the original thread that asked for players to list how much SE would lose if/when they quit shows clearly that they are not likely to respond to the outcry or make any changes. The "forthcoming" update will be enough enticement for people to say screw it and pay up regardless of their objections, and whether or not it's released in August or September. I find it highly suspicious that this change in payment methods comes almost exactly when the update is due to be released, and the more I thought about it, believed that these changes were in the works for a very long time............

Square are banking on players not having the guts to quit or at least take a few months break, let's see if they are right.
If this were not the case they would not be taking a wait and see aproach. If you want them to change this best thing is to either quit till they do or take a few months off to play other games to send out a message, this is not only for FFXI here...this is for every MMO they release, if they see they can get away with this they will do it for other games too.

No one quits FFXI. They just take a hiatus till they realize no other game can truly fill the void.
Sometimes its a month.
Sometimes its 7 years.
But you will all come crawling back, it's not an opinion, it's an eventuality.

Yup, mods are asleep. You can tell; this thread is still alive.
That they nuked the original thread and others means that the thread violated forum rules. You can say in a thread called,"Please fix billing!" that you won't be coming back. What you cannot do is make an entire thread about it. Nuking an inappropriate thread does not mean they aren't going to fix billing. In fact, they have said a couple of times that they'd work on it. I'm not an apologist; the payment options are unacceptable. What I am saying is that they done wrong, they know it, and they're going to try and make amends.
I think it's too early to say that the update will make people sell out. They haven't announced very much that's specific. Level Cap of 95 and GoV? I think we need more. A lot more. Like, at least a mini-expansion's worth, let alone a full blown one--remember like that last one we had, Treasures of Aht Urgan?
Yes, they have been dismantling POL slowly over time, it has been in the works. However, do you see anything that's all that much of an enticement as of yet? I mean, the Rousney Wand not withstanding...

Let's make this thread a little different.
Post your job and craft levels. Post anything else about your character that you think is relevant. Show how much effort is being thrown away.

Why not just say how much money you gave to SE before you "quit"?

Someone did couple weeks ago, SE didn't like what they see, so they deleted the post. If you are intended to go the same route in pointing out how much SE will loose due to this change, i bet they will delete this post as well.
Deleting/Locking post is how SE police this forum.

10/10 would read again. I love it so much because it's so obvious SE cares about our characters and not our money. I wonder why I never thought of that.

Its counter to the idea that we are so invested into this game that we'll put up with anything.
Posting jobs/crafting levels says,"This is how invested I am. Call me when you fix billing."

All I've seen return, quickly quit again since they only had to spend a week in FFXI to remember how terrible it is. The only people who stuck around, where those who play once every second month, and mostly just chat.
