ok possible noob questin but can't seem to find a way to target allience members except tabbing or typing /target (name of player)

someone in my allience earlier said you could hold ctrl f1 -f6 to target top allience and alt f1-f6 to target middle but that didnt seem to work. Also when i try and use the <stal> command in my macros it wont let me target with the f keys at all, not even in my party (this only seems to work with <st>)

thanks for the help

Short answer, Ctrl/Alt f1-f6 only work when you're playing with Windower.

Longer answer, <stal> won't let you f1-f6 people. You have to scroll up/down with the arrow keys/dpad, but it's significantly faster than tab-targetting regardless. The starting position of your <stal> arrow also depends on your current target (defaulting to yourself), so you can get a head start that way.

Hit up or down on your controller's d-pad.

If you don't mind some typing or macroing, here are the targeting coordinates. :p

<a10> ... <a15> Targets top most alliance, first member, and so on to <a15>
<a20> ... <a25> Targets second alliance, first member, and so on to to <a25>

<stal> is the absolute best way to target other players, no matter what (the only exception is blinkmenot users). Good players will be gear switching (especially Warriors and Dragoons who can change to WS gear and back in as little as 2 seconds because of huge TP gain abilities), which can have causes from simple MP waste, to wipe. When a player blinks from changing gear, your cursor will no longer be targeting them and you can burn your Cure VI or Cursna (list important life threatening situations here) on yourself rather than the target.

<stal> uses the party listing to decide who to cast on, instead of the targeting system. Therefore it's completely resistant to blinks.

I clicked on this thread expecting the first post to be one sentence long and five people to be complaining about how other people changing equipment fills them with sadness. I was planning to just post "<stal>" in the largest, boldest font this forum allows.

Instead, I discover that a player is already interested in using <stal> and wants to learn how to use it effectively. Half a dozen people are offering helpful advice on why he's on the right track and how to do what he wants to do.

I have nothing to add, other than to say the dorkiest cockles of my heart have been warmed. High-fives all around.
