View Full Version : How about a GP boost for Veteran crafters?

A really simple idea: Why not limit the GP items for the Veteran rank to Craftsman and above? It's embarrassing that I've been 100 fishing for a year, have an ebisu, and yet I spend a whole day fishing 96 Nobodyfishesthese for a whopping 1.1k GP. Plus that kills half of my daily fatigue so I get shafted twice!

We busted our butts (and wallets) trying to get that Veteran title. How about a little GP reward?

I think the Guild Points required for most of the items is ridiculously high in the first place. Probably not that big of a problem to someone who only wants to use certain character for certain craft so there's no worrying about changing the guild and is probably spending more time with the particular craft anyways.

I tend to use my 'main' for everything I can, instead of creating 'mules' for this purpose. It doesn't feel right to me, so I got all crafts but one leveled up to 20-50 at the moment, had a long break after that little crafting-spree hah.

Every time I start going for a certain guild-item, I get bored/discouraged very quickly because it would simply take too long.

All in all, the world is a different place now, and I think the limits on the guild-point items are too low, and/or the prices for the items are too high. That said, I'd like either the limits on the points to be raised a lot, or (preferably and) lower the item prices.
It should also take note of your rank so that a higher rank crafter gets more for the same item.

Just some quick thoughts~

Unfortunately I can't agree with Dragoy in what I can only describe as 'GP easy mode'. Daily GP items can usually be purchased on the AH, (granted sometimes the guild is cheaper). There's gil to be had in crafting daily GP items and throwing them up on the AH, especially at lower craft levels. I'm pretty much against removing any method for making gil unless its being exploited unfairly, and even then I'd ask how its negatively affecting legitimate players. So no, don't give us cheaper GP items via NPC or whatever. Personally, I always check the AH for my daily GP fish as I'd much rather pay somebody else so I don't have to waste my daily fatigue on lolfish.

There's really no need to make drastic changes to the system, or lower how much GP things cost. I think its a good system as it provides rewards to people that put forth the effort, and doesn't reward those that are easily discouraged or impatient. Getting 100 in a craft is already an accomplishment, spending MONTHS after you hit 100 spamming level 21 synths/fish/etc. for 1k GP is a bit silly.

I figured altering the level range for the GP daily rotation at the veteran level would be the easiest, least invasive way of giving dedicated crafters a break when it comes to "completing" their craft. This IS NOT a request to give every person with a stack of crystals every GP item in the game.

I agree with Drag...it's really discouraging and disheartening to have a 200,000 pricetag on something when the most you can hope for is an average of 5000 GP per day....you're talking a month and a half crafting every single day, devoting most of your time to crafting for ONE item...you might see it differently Wall, as you have an ebisu, but for most ppl that's completely out of the question...I just flat out don't have that kind of time to devote to getting a single item that just increases my cooking by +1, it's rediculous.

devoting most of your time to crafting for ONE item

That's exactly my point behind changing the veteran GP item rotation. It seems like a minimal change but consider this:

At 5k GP/day (which is typical at the craftsman+ level), and assuming you can craft the 2-10 items required in 1 hour, which is almost always attainable for that few, you're looking at about 40 hours to get 200k and that +1 skill. I'm willing to bet that it took at least 3x that long, probably more like 4 or 5x to get your craft from 90-100. Put in that perspective, 40 hours for +1 skill is about right on par.

Under the current system, the maximum GP/day averages out to about 3000, give or take. That means it would take 70+ hours to get the same 200k GP, assuming you could somehow craft the much higher quantities in still only 1 hour - which most days you can't.

So as small a change as it is, you're looking at what would probably work out to a >50% reduction in the time it takes to get GP items at the veteran level. All while still maintaining a challenging aspect to people with sub crafts and lower level crafters.

As much as I'd like to see a huge revision to what some items are worth, I'd be happy if they just uncapped the daily GP limit for Veteran(or at least tripled-quadrupled it).

I think we should both lower the GP item prices and raise the traded item limit but in addition just let the points earned in one craft carry over from craft to craft. It just plain stupid to let that hard work go to waste. I mean simply put the GP is your reward for your hard work producing inventory for the guild to sell. When put like that is the same is gil and should carry over since it is your compensation for letting them whore you out in the first place. LOL

That too could work but I think it should be for Craftsman or higher instead since at that point a person is sacrificing good gil for items to npc for practically nothing.

Honestly, I think we (sort of) already have an advantage being Veterans since we get extra days than the other ranks of nice high-point items before having to swap back to the crappy amateur rank items. Of course, I'm only fishing, so I don't know how that compares to the other crafts...
