View Full Version : Quicksand Caves Weight Doors

It's always bugged me that NPCs and pets and such can't help us open the weight doors in Quicksand Caves. Us poor non-Galkas would like to be able to open them solo! Just yesterday, I was doing some trials in Quicksand Caves, and would've been able to finish a LOT quicker if I could've opened those doors. Nursery Nazuna is bigger and fatter than a Mithra, why can't she help me open the door, but another Hume/Mithra/Elvaan can?! For that matter, my NPC is Elvaan and she can't help me either! Just seems silly...

(I just know some Galkas are going to be laughing at this thread...)

heh I was thinking about this only the other day. I'm a taru, I logged a mule acct into the xbox and was burning it through Zilart Missions so could hold some pops in sky. And guess what was the slowest part of the whole deal??

Both of the accounts were Taru's >< - lol

I think that they should add a high level, all jobs ammo item that adds to your weight for the doors. This would make the most sense after all of the level changes.

I remember a topic like this from the past... probably at a different forum, but yeah, I agree all these things could, or even should have an alternative way of getting through them.

Adding The Eldieme Necropolis and Garlaige Citadel to the mix, with their switches.
Granted, Citadel one is not so bad as you can by-pass it via Wings of the Goddess, but at least one quest still requires the First Banishing Gate to be opened (Thief Artifact Armour).

They could add some kind of quest(s) so that having a key item from it, you can manipulate the switches alone, and having your Adventuring Fellow and/or Pet to be able to help with them would be a cool option as well.

Many players feel bad about asking others to help with these things as it can take quite a bit of time and most things there are already solo-content in a sense so asking someone to put their time into something as trivial as pushing a button can feel awkward.

But yeah, in short, I agree!

My fellow Tarus, you will no longer need to hunt down heavy Galkas to open the door in Quicksand Caves! In the next version update we are planning to add a quest which when completed will allow you to open this door solo :)

There is already a mission for the Three Mage Gate.

Of course, if joining Windurst is too much to ask, you could always get the Rhinostry Certificate.

I hope you didn't mean just taru's. I'm hume and i hate having other people have to help me open those gates. It would be really cool to have some 'weighted boots' or something key item that made the door open.

Garlaige got a way of getting past all the gates solo, Eldeime is a pain though, would be nice if they did something about it.

This is awesome... i've been waiting for this for a long time. I do a lot of solo game play with farming, NM hunting, quests, and now missions and this will help me out a lot. But wait this only mentions Quicksand Caves... how about the other multi character gates?

Don't get rid of all of these things please. Especially stuff like the three mages gate, where you can do a quest or mission to be able to go through permanently. Maybe make something like that for all the gates? Make new quests that will give you a key item to activate all doors, weighted doors in QSC, the Altepa gate, possibly even to directly open/close gates within the Eldieme Necropolis, without having to be at a switch.

I second this, necropolis has no real way to get pass trough Alone, also if i recall right for banishing gates 1 & 3 you can go trough past /present cavernous maw and for gate 2 by mandragora mini flower/teleport quest, as for mages gate there is the rinostery certificate quest that allow any one fo go in (altough from a diferent way) past the mages gate. Btw Nice call on altepa gates completely forgot about that one

Please let this quest involve eating a lot of food and get fat.

Actually, what I always thought would make sense was if NPCs and mobs would count towards the weight limit, so that if you pulled like two anticans over at the weight sensor, it would trigger and let you go through, even if it meant you would have to kill the mobs. It would also make it possible to enter if you had like your NPC active, or a pet/automaton

Sure, go ahead and cater to the wishes of players your size. How about extending that generosity to the gates in E.Necropolis and G.Citadel (yes I know about going to the past).

Does this mean it was actually intended for Tarutarus, lol? As I recall, the meteorite you have to farm take place around Windurst =P

I came up on this quest by accident while doing a mission for "AMK" and was required to go to the Chamber of Oracles. Well, anyway, I digress. I spoke to a Goblin near the crystal in eastern Altepa dessert. You need a Tremor stone plus a meteorite.

I don't remember, but if you Teleport-Altep, there's a goblin right next to the telepoint. The quest is pretty easy. You need some item from the Cloister of Tremors, and either a meteorite, a soil gem, or I think something like 12 soil geodes (your choice). The meterorite is Rare/Ex, but the other stuff you can buy if you want.

I wonder if they are going to do them for other areas too. There are lots of doors and stuff that are hard to open solo, the torch door under Uggy temple, The Necropolis, Old Altepa Gate, I also suggest eliminating the cost of Entering Undersea Ruins. (maybe a reward for the up and coming Nyzul change)

It's already a reward for finishing Assault. Captains can enter the ruins freely. This is good and it's exactly what should be implemented for other such areas too, like the ones you mentioned.

If you carry a salvage permit with you, you can enter freely as well. Until you do salvage that is, but I don't see many people still doing it.
