View Full Version : Empyrean Weapons NMs

NM's which pop every 10-15 mins for Empy weapons are starting to become a worrying problem for FFXI again. Everybody wants Empyrean weapons but now many people want multple ones. So there is a huge demand for these NMs.

I speak of NM's like Gukumatz.

So what? compeition is good? Well the problem is most hardcore FFXI don't really like compeition when it means there is a chance they could lose, so very much like the huge HNM problem people are starting to bot these 10 min respawn NMs again.

The spawn system didn't work for HNM (it just made a few bot creators and RMT endgame shells a lot of money) and the probelms are coming up again, another way for these NM's should really be found.

It's 2011, bots shouldn't be surprising anyone anymore.

That aside, I fail to see what your point is. Yes, the competition is high at times; that's the idea of timed NMs.

The point is there is no competition, because now the botters from HNM are firing them up for these 10min respawn NM to get them all. As I said, hardcore FFXI players do not like compeition and if there is serious competition they cheat, the current system is encouraging all those botters from HNM to bot some more.

Timed spawns don't work on heavily contested NM. Even if they made the NM respawn in 1 minute people would still bot them.

Also i'm not shocked about botting, im shocked Square destroyed the need for them and then this is bringing them back into the picture.

I highly doubt people are botting Gukumatz. It seems like such a complete waste, especially since most 'claim bots' work by synchronizing and staggering the claims of a large number of people. One person running a bot isn't going to outclaim an attentive player.

Losing claim sucks. It happens to all of us sometimes. Sometimes it happens a lot back to back. That doesn't mean the competition is botting. I'm a hardcore player, but I have absolutely no intention of risking my account using bots; especially over something like Gukumatz. That's just plain dumb.

There is competition for some NM claims, but its not really that bad. Its not like an HNM w/ a 24, 48, 72, etc hr respawn.
if you miss claim you have another chance in 10~15 min. I"ve gone for Gaku when there were several groups going after him. it took about 50 min before I got a claim. The other groups moved on, I got my 2~3 (ki's) then I moved on just as another group came in for him.

Its not that bad.

It maybe dumb but if the bot is on their pc and using it means they lock others out of that NM on the 4-5 claims they want in a row you think they aren't firing it up? As for risking their accounts, well so many did it on HNM i don't think anyone is really worried about that.

I can claim Gukumatz 10 times in a row paying attention to the Peistes. I can also lose claim on Gukumatz 10 times in a row because someone else was just plain faster. It really does not mean someone is botting. I can't think of any player stupid enough to use a bot on timed Abyssea NMs. Vilification of "botters" is out of style. They aren't some selfish, evil micro-race that exists solely to pursue their own personal gain and screw you out of NMs. They're just people who play ffxi like everyone else. They win and lose claims like everyone else. The only real use I've even heard of for "bots" these days are noclip (by proxy, GM mode), flee, and ja0wait. Most of which (the exception being flee) are pretty much harmless and are only there to prevent from being locked up by curelocks and running into huge groups of players.

No. I don't bot.

I really haven't seen a problem with botting but the competition is certainly too high. This could easily be fixed if SE would lower the timer for timed spawns again, or make it popable, or make the KI's for timed spawns available in the gold boxes. It's an easy fix I just hope they do it.

put it in a box. very good solution imo.

This is also something that is going to be more of a problem after the server merges, so for people that say it's not a problem keep that in mind.

Why NM time pop is my question? I don't mind kill monster to get a pop item, why not turn all these NM pop instead, i am sure that would make entire FFXI world happy. Even if SE increase the number of need for E.Wep, just converting these nm into a pop would make it more accessible to everyone, maybe harder but still fun to do, because no SE, is still not fun wait 10~15 min to see the NM you camp constant claim for 2h long, to not say 24/24.

Edit: In the end we all going to fight for the ??? every minute, so why not just put this to 0 sec, might be hard for LS kill that NM + camp the ??? at the same time, and even if they do it, they might just finish faster leaving a chance to other.

Server Merge is only affecting the servers that didn't merge in the previous Server Merge; everyone who got merged before is already used to overcrowding at NMs which, in reality, isn't that bad when it's not the weekend, and not JP Prime.
