View Full Version : *expansion idea* FFXI:Lost Memories of the Past

I think the idea that SE makes (even if mini) a new expansion that has stories of the original of each class. Make it that it really immerses the player into a long since forgotten story for each class but make it you have to fight every fight as that class.
You could also have it that all stories converge at some point for large fights for added story feature on all sides.
For example: Smn story.
You learn all about the avatar's on a more personal level and about the quest of a brave adventurer in their quest to quell their anger and starting bonds with them to the point that they become an summon.
At the end of the missions which ever story line you choose you get an item that when traded to your hero's forgotten grave with your original artifact weapon gives you a new weapon that is catered to your current jobs abilities/skills.
I know it would take a lot to program all of this for each job but i won't complain if you recycle old area's again. i just want a new story to follow.

I would suggest this as limit break for Lv95 and Lv99. Make something individual for each job, possibly with a new fight, like Maat. But then again, what are the chances of SE putting effort into new quests.

I love this idea I always wanted a job specific questline, maybe for Summoner you go to the past meet Karaha-Baruha and he asks you to help him Summon Fenrir. A couple of quests/cutscenes culminating in a solo BCNM where you fight alongside Karaha-Baraha would be great.
They could do similar for each job meeting a famous/powerful member of their class. At the end a choice of rewards 2-3, or one item with a small list of augments. They could make it so each character can only do one job's questline, just so we would each have to pick the job we most care about.
Example item for Summoner:

Yeah, I've been secretly hoping that the last limit break(s) would involve a quest line for each job. I'd even prefer it if each job broke their caps independently through these quests.

we all know that the 99 limit break will be xx (insert new type of seal) and xx merits -_-
but i will love a new questline for af4 or somethings along the line :P
the only new expansion accettable its the mithra homelands and the far east....but this will never be... ;_;

I like this idea. As mentioned there could be problems with finding suitable representatives for some of the jobs; ones that come to mind are mostly original jobs such as RDM, THF, WAR, etc.

No, she most certainly isn't. Windurst missions and Moogle expansion both show otherwise. You may be thinking of Rhomaa Mihgo from campaign.

they could even take it even farther and make it that you can only do 1 path in this expansion and make it take place after 99 cap with the goal of reaching 100 after completion, that way players can only have 1 lvl 100 job and make some awesome abilities active once you get there.

This is a great idea! For Thf, I could see joining Nanaa Mihgo to go back to Kazham to help her get closure with her self imposed exile through some heroic deed. Your reward at the end could be learning the special weapon skill "Cobra Clamp".
Each job quest would be designed to be done solo, accompanying and fighting alongside a key figure in that job's lore. Finishing the job specific quest would be necessary to break each job's final limit.

I would like to see Altepa before it fell to the anticans, theres a Tarutaru in Rabao that said the Quicksand caves where once on land, plus in the drk quest-line Zeid mentions Dark Knight having roots in ancient Altepa.
Also seeing the original Tavnazia (what you see at Blueblade fell) yes you see it during the opening movie but what about experiencing it before the war? (or even during another CB area...not that many do that)

That would be awesome even if just in a cs to see the galka's home before it was destroyed. Would prefer maybe atleast 1 new zone for each job would be awesom also, can have old altepa for some story and even open up that unknown avatar gate in Pso Xja which leads to a celestial zone of the avatars ^^

I don't think this is "expansion" worthy, but in general I'd love a second tier quest series for all jobs. Not only jobs, but I'd love SquareEnix to continue will new Nation missions for all major cities, including Jeuno.
