View Full Version : Would Anyone Be Able To Help Me With Error Code POL-5312, Please?

I'm having problems logging into FFXI. I set up an SE Account last month when they first announced that it would be needed. On Friday, before the update, when it was announced we could transfer, link, whatever our POL accounts, I logged into the SEAM system and followed the instructions. I received emails confirming registration and transfer of both POL accounts to the SEAM. Logging into SEAM I can see all my little FFXI characters from both accounts.

Not really understanding what they were talking about, I registered and purchased $50 of Crystals. On Monday I received a confirmation email for payment on the two POL accounts. It seems I have enough of the new shinnies to pay for next cycle in 30 days (I just know at some point I will forget to top that coffer up)

I tried to log in to play. The first screen, that you simply type the password works fine, I move on to the next log in screen, click on "Log-In" and the soft keyboard pops up. I enter the same password I always use and then I get the notice box "Error POL-5312. Square Enix User Name, password, or onetime password is incorrect" and it throws me back to the initial log in screen.

I tried using the password that logs me into the SEAM web site - Error 5312. I went into the setting tabs on the left on the second log in screen and added my SEAM user name in the bottom section. I tried the two different passwords again - Error 5312. I tried using the initial log in password for the second screen, but everything I do gives me that POL-5312 error.

Except for the last time when it locked my account for too may password tries.

I did - like half the rest of the world it seems, try to call the help desk. The first two times I was disconnected after 30 minutes on hold, but the third time I got to speak to someone. Unfortunately the “tool was down” so he was unable to help me (good breeding prevents me from making comments on that statement). I did commiserate with him, I'm sure today was not one he would like to go through again.

So, I’m trying a post on here: Does anyone know which password I’m supposed to be using, please? Or is anyone able to point out something I should have done, but haven’t, or messed something else up?

It has been a while!


On PlayOnline Viewer, in your account settings, ensure that below your PlayOnline ID your PlayOnline Password is set. If not, click on 'Not set' and select 'Save' instead, and enter your PlayOnline Password below it.

The 'extra security' part is optional.

As you mentioned entering the Square Enix ID on the bottom, and you should not be able to proceed if it is set, but the PlayOnline password is not, this makes me wonder a little, but do make sure it is there as well, and that the One-Time Password is set to Use, if applicable.

You will use Square Enix Account password for logging in, which the PlayOnline Viewer should be asking for on-screen, and if not, the settings are not set properly.


Before I try to give more suggestions, I would like you to try these steps.

Thank you for your reply Dragoy, I remember you now - you did Dynamis with us!

I did actually manage to get through to the call center today, the young man's tool was working, so I'm sure he was happy about that!

While I did have all the passwords set in the settings section, they were all my original passwords. I had no password set into the SEAM, so even trying to log in using the SEAM password didn't work. He explained I needed to set my password into the website and set the same password into the game software.

Everything works now, I managed to log into the game and receive your /tells.

Mmm, indeed I did!
It was fun, but the time-zone difference was/is not nice being a morning time for me hehe...


At the time I wrote the suggestion, I actually managed to re-produce the Error code, which seems to be a bit ambiguous (as usual). Either way, I don't quite remember such a part after linking the POL account to the SqEX Account, but then again, I did all that more than a year ago, I think.
I'm also happy for the young man that the tool was working again.
