View Full Version : Nyzul obsolete?
No one seems to do Nyzul isle anymore, and a few of the WSs are fairly good, I'm looking at you, Stringing Pummel. Anyway, why not either make the WS points needed much lower so all you need to do is get the weapon and start the quest and have the WS in one day or, and this is probably the better idea, give people more incentive to do Nyzul, Maybe even make it accessible to alliances. People just need more reasons to do Nyzul.
This suggestion brought to you by PUPFSP; Puppetmasters For Stringing Pummel.
(Seriously, alot of us can't get help getting to floor 100.)

I still consider some of the items worth getting [trying to get denali for collector's sake ; ;]
That, and I still need mandalic stab [useless as it may be], blade:kamu and tachi:rana. So hey, you're not alone.

I need Stringing Pummel, Ascetic's Fury, Insurgency, and King's Justice.. I'd also like Vidohunir and Death Blossom, just because they look cool.

I'd like to see a lvl 90+ version of nyzul, setup a similar way but with harder enemies, and bosses that drop HQ versions of the armor.
It will give people a reason to climb again, and maybe, just maybe, I'll stop seeing lvl 90 DRGs using crap like penta thrust.

SE already stated they'd be revamping TOAU events - Nyzul will most likely be one of them.

I did nyzul 10~100 at 90.
Most of the people helping me already had 100.

I'd like the BLU Sword. I'd also like to get off floor 1. Neither one is ever gonna happen.

I'm helping someone get NI 100 while I work on tokens for a Mythic. We take 4 characters (3 players) in and haven't run into any problems yet. Last time we cleared floors . . . 31 to 56 I think in 4 tags? We had one run of 10 floors. I net about 10000 Tokens.

Didn't SE say it has another 100 floors?

The floors are automatically generated, and only minorly change (NM distribution) in 20 floor sections. They could make it go up to 1000 floors with a minimum of effort.

I did nyzul climb (1-100) at 75 cap.
However the first week I was impatient with tags regenerating so I went and spent days of my time wsing to get Drakesbane (not always with a skillchain partner either;; ). 18k in wspoints was not fun at all, but the weaponskill is so worth it.
Now I find myself helping people with nyzul just for the fun of it. Old times sake XD The most infuriating part of it is people not listening, especially on lamp floors. The main problem however is finding helpers just to get into the assault area.
(Basement areas and floor 101+ yes please ;P)

More Nyzul? I think I'll pass.
Dealing with total morons in Nyzul is worse than arguing with someone who truly believes full pink is good...

But how else will you get the set bonus? All the extra sTP makes you ws like twice as much and haste which makes your ws faster. Faster WS = more damage. Velocity, duh.

I lol so hard ;;
I agree on the nyzul morons though. I had fun with my static group (who could actually read instructions), and replaying it reminds me of those good old days.XD

I hate it when you get to lamp floors and people just do not understand the concept of what is to be achieved. Its so easy a caveman could do it. But nooooooooo.
But back to main topic. Yes nyzul isle is obsolete. Id get floor 100 and weapons you need then stop. The gear isn't worth the time for farm it for the most part except for one or two pieces of situational gear. I wouldn't go out of my way to get every single piece unless I wanted to "complete" the zone.

Don't let him fool you, it's the best for every job that can equip it.
Also, I did Nyzul 11-90 in the past month or so ( was kinda lazy about it). The only hard part is manning up and shouting for a bit. Though people nowadays want everything handed to them.

Askar body, maybe Denali legs, and definitely Goliard Body, are the only pieces worth getting.
Other than each set's PDT or DT piece, (Askar feet, Denali hands, Goliard legs), which are all worth having unless you're willing to put up money for the new KCNM pieces (Jingang feet), or use ASA legs for PDT. (I think Denali hands are required for closest to 50% (49%) PDT on MNK, 9% body, 6% head, 5% waste, 5% neck, 4% earrings, 4% legs, 12% rings, 2% hands, 2% feet)
So it's worth going to those floors still if you don't already have that stuff.
Edit: NVM :[ PDT stuff nyzul sux. http://www.ffxiah.com/item/11920/melaco-mittens

Did 29 floors last night on 3 tags to help someone climb / farm tokens with 4 characters and 3 players. He ended up going from 56 to 81 and I net about 10k tokens. He'll get to 100 the next time we can get a real player to help us.
Most important part: I got a Spelunker's Hat

It's "obsolete" in the sense that it's "fun" instead of convoluted and gimmicky.
It's quick and self-contained, get it or you don't, rather than farming for time, farming for pop items, farming for trophies, and there goes your day.
It's new and different every time. Yes, it's obsolete. More to the pity.

It's new and different every time.
I wouldn't say that lol.
It's still the same enviroment, its' still the same enemies, it's still the same objectives (Kill all, lamps, family, etc). It's hardly new or refreshing. Stop trying to be cool and taking a jab at abyssea.
Most people I know of who have done Nyzul almost fear redoing it due to the annoyance of getting lamps. Lamps suck really bad.. If Nyzul were a box of chocolates, Lamp floors would be that chocolate that's filled with the toothpaste-like substance.

I wouldn't say that. Yes, the variety of objectives are fixed. Yes, the variety of mobs and NMs are fixed. But...
One run, you could get kill everything (Monks and Blues rejoice!), Lamps-Code, Kill NM Flan, Free Floor! And the boss is just Khimaira. Next run you get Lamps-order, kill all Soulflayers and don't let gear detect you, followed by kill everything but don't kill gear (leading to confusion amongst party members), kill specified enemy with multiple NMs on the floor (leading to more confusion amongst party members), and if you survive all that, kill Cerb. Joy... but that little bit of occasional frustration gave a real sense of victory when you won.
You will not get the same run every time. There is always going to be some variable that makes it different. Maybe a random buff, or no white magic, who knows?
Stop trying to be cool and argue with me.
This event was one of the things I always looked forward to for what I scheduled for my week in FFXI. I remembered the climb, I remember who I went with and staticed with for gear afterwards.
Something it had going for it was that it was random, but it wasn't as static as Einherjar; you had to move around, but with purpose; find the NM, find your way back to the exit, find the lamps. This event was fun! Not fun for drop rates, not fun for (x) easy mode, fun because it was challenging and fun to do.
It isn't really that hard to find 2 other people to get to floor 100. This is very easy at level 90.

~pssst~
It'sa dead-end...
As for the topic, it is not obsolete in my opinion.
It's actually not long since I finished climbing (did it mainly with a party of 3, it can get rough, but it is doable).
I still want some weapon skills and equipment from there, but my friend I did it with does not play anymore/again\for now... perhaps never will. =\
I never liked to go with random people, though, and I imagine it can be very hard to find those for it now. More the reason to recommend doing it with friends.
I am interested to see how they will tweak Assault, though I imagine it might merely be lowering the time for new tags... but even so, there is hope for more!

Nothing challenging about basic memory. Better yet leaving one person at the exit or any number of ways to make it faster. With a static it was a lol cake walk. Only real challenge it offered was if you did it with random pick up groups.
Lamp floors were also the easiest floors and could be done the fastest IF your group used vent or any voice chat. If you took a blu or brd you wouldn't have to worry about much, light based sleeps and dispels covered, and blu non white magic cures.
Like every other event in FFXI a little preplaining and repetition makes everything easy. While the lay out changes the mobs may change but the way the game works never changes nor does the mobs behavior. So stop acting like nysul was some kind of great event that proved how skilled you were compaired to people that do abyssea.

I'd also like to get off floor 1. Neither one is ever gonna happen.
I'd like to get ON floor 1 ... in the last month on Shiva there has been MAYBE 4 shouts in Port Jeuno for 75+ NI, and none what so ever for aything under that. What about those of us who either have never done it at all, or the people on a new character who would like to start fresh????
