View Full Version : Merit Adjustment "Other" Category

Personally I think it would be more beneficial for EACH job to have their own "Other" category. Let me explain, Say you are using one of your DD jobs, we would merit Crit Hit Rate+ and maybe something else Enemy Crit Hit Rate- as examples.
Now I want to switch over to a mage job like WHM. I dont need Crit Hit Rate+ but I sure could use that Spell Int Down- and Enmity Decrease.
If each job had this "Other" section as a Tier 3 I think it would be much more beneficial for each job people want to play. Granted I know people have a "main" and "secondary" job they mostly would use this section more, but I feel this will help customize each job a little more.

In the past I was both whm and nin and didn't havet any hate problems on either. That tends to come down to play style/gear more then anything.

You obviously didn't read the entire post or you just did not understand the general point. IDC what YOU did... My post is about GENERAL use of ALL jobs. >.>

You obviously don't understand my post and I did read yours. It's not a matter of "usefullness." It's a matter of making due with they way the system is supposed to work and I gave you an example of how it's fine for peole as is ragardless of the trouble you are having with it.
Please think out your responses before raging because someone dissagrees, thanks. ^^

I do understand your post and your example has nothing to do with what I mentioned. My point is there are things that can benefit others jobs and you do not get the full benefit from them if you can only merit a certain way. Nobody has "trouble" with the way that it is so instead of just getting post count+1 actually learn to read and understand peoples post and how it relates to all game play and jobs. What good is Crit Hit rate on a mage? What good is Enmity Increase on a mage? Both of these examples are not benefiting a mage. I should be able to merit each job differently to the best of its ability. Do you understand yet?

You dissagree so I HAVE to be "post+1." lol Nice logic. ^^
These things are general catagories to begin with for a reason and if it is so nessissary to change them as needed, you just have to keep some merits on hand to adjust as needed. They're a dime a dozen these days anyway.

And why should I have to constantly add and remove merits just so when I change jobs I can use them? What logic is that? These forums are to suggest changes, not just leave the old system. I see no reason to not be able to customize our jobs to the fullest. Also idc if you disagree with me people on these boards will always disagree with other people. I just do not see why this section of the merit system is the way that it is. It makes no sense for this section to apply to all jobs. If you want to disagree fine disagree, I'm still going to put my ideas out there in hopes of a response whether good or bad.

I actually use the piss out of my crit+ merits on every job I play...and I have 90 SMN, BLM, and WHM and 7 level 90 melee's. You'd be surprised what you can do with a stick (or for WHM, a pair of sticks... hehehe) when you swap in pieces for melee support and go into full battlemage mode. It's hella fun too.
The point is to specialize them for your style of play. And like Tsukino was saying, merits are a dime a dozen now. I can solo half a merit in abyssea in like what.. 10 minutes or less? 4k+ a pop from smacking 5 mobs, plus the xp from killing them, as well as the odd chest that might pop. I got 4 merits tonight just playing around hoping for some parry skillups while watching TV.
270.3....getting there slowly but surely....then it's my 120 or so guard I still need for MNK... @#$@#$@#$@#$.

crit rate + is really useful for a melee whm...and what if the whm in question is tanking? not saying that everyone does, but I've seen it in game myself, I've done it myself and I've seen ppl post having done it here in the forums, and it's quite effective...in those instances, crit rate is really important and enmity down would suck to have to deal with as an obstacle.
