View Full Version : Hmmm which server to choose...

So I am currently a resident of Asura and I am thinking about jumping ship to a new server. Asura is just way to infested with trolls for my liking and I would enjoy being on a server where half the population didnt have to be /blisted to make the game tolerable.
What I would like is a primarily an english speaking server with a decent amount going on with as little drama as I can find. Can't get away from it, I know, but a toned down version would be nice. It would be nice to find a nice middle ground between the traditional pt and a book burn. On Asura it seems to be 100% book burns or aby leeching and even though they do have their benefits a traditional party where I can chat with ppl and have fun would be a nice break from falling asleep in my chair do to the lack of conversation coupled with the mind numbingness of a book pt.
I know its wishful thinking but does this type of server exist anymore?

That type of server never existed. Every server has drama.
Especially after two world merges, no one server is primarily this language speaking or primarily that or primarily anything.
No server favors a style of EXPing more than another; But if you really want to level up slowly, feel free to find 5 other like minded individuals and have at it, no one will stop you and you have the whole world for potential campgrounds.
TL;DR- No server is better than another for any concieveable purpose or reason.

I know that lol, it's how ppl work in groups, esp when they have anonimity, but Asura sucks the life out of you sometimes. I just would like a toned down version is all

The only way to get that would be to invent a drama filter.

I hear Atomos is nice this time of year. No crowding around Joachim, NMs aren't overcamped, etc.

i would hope you have actually been on Asura at somepoint. I have and I i regrested doing so. No offence to any asura people, but I call it the emo server. The whining from the players is enough to drive a person nuts. That is the only server where i joined a LS and was kicked with in an hour over a misunderstanding. And everyone had me black listed. The LS was talking about naughty cosplay. I put in my statements and w/o warning was booted. (i played along with what was stated

Lakshmi isn't bad it is the combination of Garuda and Lakshmi. Garuda was a lomg time server and Of the maby I tried a very good one. Yes drama exists in all mmo. But we are fairly helpful.
Me and my boyfriend are very nice people and willing to help out othes. As our LS. :)

OP is right, Asura is the playground for trolls and fellow player torching. How dare anyone be new on that server, you aren't supposed to ask questions, you're just supposed to know! You need a win but don't have a "useful" job? That'll be 300k! This is an average day in Port Jeuno, everyone screaming and hating each other.
I was merged with Asura from Pandemonium. Natives commented how much nicer our server's members were than theirs ; ; Though I have met some very nice Asura natives, showing not EVERYONE on there is a dick.
I assume most servers are similar nowadays, with all the mergers cramming us together. You would be better off finding a nice LS and staying out of Port Jeuno; I sure avoid it...

Ehh, I came to Asura from Pandemonium too. Honestly, Asura isn't that bad. There are certain individuals that love to spam stupid stuff in Port Jeuno, sure - they can easily be blacklisted, and I'm sure you will find people like that on all other servers too. As for people shouting, charging gil for wins and whatnot, I don't see anything wrong with that. It's the people that start the "OMG you CHARGE for boss win/atma/whatever??? wtf you're a bad person!!!" shouts that cause the spam and shout wars in those cases, or generally those that feel the need to comment on someone else's shout (reserving a specific drop when not having pop set ready etc). If you don't like the deal that a shouter is offering, just don't join them? So yeah, those feeling the absolute need to comment, per shout, on other people's shouts, are the worse trolls and spammers in my opinion.
I did come here already having a lot of good friends from Pandemonium. I've also met some absolutely awesome people here. Also, Asura has Krabnuckle, the realest summoner!!! :D

charging players money to help them is just wrong, rude etc. I can see if it is like bcnm por something, but not mission etc. As i stated not all servers are like Asura or much alike. I been on 5 servers of the list Asura included. Each had a different vibe about it, Asura being less then disairable. And this was a gpod year ago before the community in this mmo took a hit in etique.
As in stuff that was rude, is now protocal. And where being polite is stupid. Pretty much community as a hole is slowly becoming "the game who must not be named" But I've seen Worst.
Aion community is the pits. Being new on that game ois the worst. DCUO is just as similar. MMo communities are stating to become lamer with each new mmo. ffxi was better years ago.

It's your prerogative to feel this way. However, if you're one of those people that feel the need to comment, per shout, on how wrong you think it is, then you are the troll and the spammer. And I say "you" meaning anyone who does this.
Edit: there are quite a few of those people on Asura too. The worst ones have found their way to my blacklist.
To the OP: your best bet is to find a few likeminded people to do stuff with. Being on Asura or any other server. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way you do on Asura, decent people that you could team up with.

I moved to Asura from shiva right after the merge... and I may just be lucky but I've only met amazing people here and ignored the ones I feel to keep my distance from for whatever reason (ex: Shout trolling...) etc:) Also, when I created a character there before I moved my main I found the "newbie community" and such to be very welcoming and nice, including japanese ones. Honestly Asura may have more situations than I had on shiva such as taking mobs at 1%... trying to "steal" (I'm resuming here but I think you know what I mean, I fail at wording it too sorry) etc, but overall it's not that bad of a server. I enjoy. :)

i would hope you have actually been on Asura at somepoint. I have and I i regrested doing so.Every server has emo turds; I don't have to be on asura to tell you that, and without you having been on every server for months at a time, you can't say that every other server's bad crop of people is worse than yours.

Funny, I find Lakshmi tiring. The only reason I don't blacklist everyone I see shouting in PJ is because eventually they will try to buy something from me.

I'm not sure. I played mostly on my own up to like level 24-26 somewhere. If you didn't interact with them, they at least didn't seem hostile.
Of course, I could assume it is like all other MMO communities. "Oh you are playing a bad job? No, you can't join". I wonder if any MMOs ever thought about not making bad jobs. Since they do not really help the community.
This is probably why I have faith in Diablo 3 (though not really a MMO), since I've never heard there someone say "please leave the server, you are on a bad job" on Diablo 2. Then again the only thing they did say in Diablo 2 was "Rush rush rush! Got to power level on baal for loot and exp"

I did have a good and helpful ls. A group of ppl who have been playing for years, such as myself. However I took a week break, came back and they all are also taking a break from the game due to the madness lol and idk when anyone is or if they even are coming back. I know our ls leader is almost for sure gone for good.
I have tried other ls and they either wanna charge u for everything and anything, even if you are there to help, or if you cannot commit 6-7 hrs a day 5-7 days a week to their aby events they kick you. Im a college student i dont have that kind of time. Im just lonely on Asura surrounded by hungry trolls. So Im looking for new horizons.

kujata was great before the merge and even getting tossed in with valefor its still not that bad. we only have one notorious troll which whom you will know of the first day your there lol. other than that were pretty tame.
