View Full Version : SE Account management system is useless for registration and reward codes

I wanted to start a rage thread on SE's Stupid new SE account management system. I want to add a reward code I got from steam to get the Destrier Beret, and registration codes for that matter, but the damn system has no options to do it. And when you try to do it in POl viewer it tells you that you can do it online. SE you should make sure the system works before you implement it. How the heck are people supposed to register the add-ons or in game bonus items.

There is a news-flash about this(?) issue from yesterday (29th), but it was supposedly fixed mere hours after said news.
Was it perhaps due to this you had problems and you have not tried afterwards?

Or is this something different/new?

I would assume the option(s) would show up at the Services and Options section.
I can not confirm this, as they are not visible for me at the time, but I have not yet transferred my POL account there (waiting a few days into next month, if I will transfer at all).

Just some thoughts~

I think there is a way I can't explain it now cause I'm at work. SE site is very confusing though.

I also am having dificulty finding where to enter Registration Codes. I reactivated accounts for my wife and I and need to enter codes for expansion packs that were released after we stopped playing a couple of years ago. I have searched all over SE account management site and have yet to find where I can enter them. It is very frustrating since we both use XBOX 360s. I even installed the game on my PC and still I get redirected to SE account management. I hope they fix this issue soon.

It should be under Service and Options > Select Service > Playonline > Options List and then their should be an option to add codes.

I attempted that and the only option I see on that page is Registration Codes: Purchase which results with this message:
"The selected registration codes cannot be purchased because they have already been registered."

I submitted a trouble ticket which said they couldn't help me by email, and try calling. Unfortunately due to where i work and the hours i work I can't call during their phone support hours. So i guess that means i'm screwed.

Go to Select Service -> FFXI/POL -> Add a service account (Blue button on the upper right). The next screen has the blank fields for you to input reg. codes, expansion codes and reward codes.

Hope that helps.

Kind of a necrobump but I too am having problems registering the cap on a friend's account (he can't post here because he hasn't made a char on his account yet, he's still updating lol) after he recently bought the abyssea edition from Steam.

We did what Aedon said to do but it just comes up with:

"You cannot add expanded services because either the maximum number of service accounts has been added/registered or there are no service accounts to which the expanded services can be added/registered"

Does this mean he has to create a character first in order to register the code or has something gone wrong that we can't fix on our end?

Yes, you must have a character created first. Because you assign the head piece to the character.

Thanks man.
I assumed the cap code would fix it self to the account and thus would mean we could deal with it during all the registration procedures... but I guess I was wrong. Does this also mean you can only assign the cap to one character only or will it work for all new characters on that account?

I have a character active, received my beret but still cannot register the key to activate the Abysea packs. All I get is

You cannot add expanded services because either the maximum number of service accounts have been added/registered or there are no service accounts to which the expanded services can be added/registered.

anyone have a link to actually call SE? I've gotten no love via email, its like I never even emailed them.

I think the phone number is on the support website when you click on additional assistance.

You could also use the live chat feature. It's usually pretty effective and sometimes better than calling.

SE sometimes forgets that we're naught but humble gamers, not internet engineers. The very first link you click to start the reg process should be titled, oh I don't know, maybe REGISTRATION??? or Register or Register Codes or something about registration. At the very least replace "add a service account" with "Add Registration code" or add it if that link involves creation of content IDs too by chance and it'll go a long way in helping people get it right because add a service account sounds like add another character or something.

This is nothing new, though. POL was always a maze you had to navigate to purchase anything old that wasn't posted to the front FFXI page(where you hit "Play"). SE just isn't very good at customer convenience. It's a problem when new comers have a learning curve to deal with for managing their accounts.
