View Full Version : Idea for Campaign (Go ahead, flame it)
Being one that enjoys Campaign, with the exception of the, as I call them, Angry Retard NM's AI (Many of them are repetitive and rather annoying, more so than challenging), I often get messed up on one thing. Union. One way or another I get AoE'd, aggroed, buffed, etc. trying to join Union, so why not do one of these:
1. Eliminate the need to join upon getting tags, allow people to join a Union in a town, since most people seem to huddle up in Adder alone, you COULD just eliminate the different unions and simply have 1 union. Most seem to join Adder because it is the first choice and the joining process is very slow with a pointless "Join a Union, Yes or No" menu that takes long enough to load that you could get the dreaded "Event Skipped."
2. Keep things as they are, but don't allow hate, aggro, or dmg from campaign mobs for 5-10 seconds unless an action is taken upon a Campaign mob.
I don't exclusively do Campaign for treasure, more for the XP to re-cap when I've died, or to gain my level when I'm close but left PT for various reasons. Still, the Union treasures can be nice and I kinda feel naked doing Campaign without Union.

i like these idea actually I vote for both. Let people join unions in town or out in the field. (depending on where they currently are) Or have people jpoin a union as part of the prosses. Or have unions tied to their nation :)
I like your ideas though I had similar issues years ago. I hate xarcabard S with that dragon who dives bomb people during the fight or anyone who is in the area, very annoying.

I tried Xarc. once, never tried again because I could never make it to the battle due to the Amphiptere.

I admit that getting in to a union can be hard when angry monsters surround the CA. But part of the union system is ajusting for what union others are in. I'm all for adding the union option when you get tags to fix this.

This idea sucks and you should feel bad and die...
...
..
What? you said to flame it.
---------------------------------------------
On a serious note, The suggestions aren't bad. on ...
1) I like this one, except I'd like all 5 Unions to remain, When i do campaign I usually try to be in a union a lone, Nothing i hate more than doing my work killing mobs to have the level 53BRD leech outlot me on my Items. Stream-lining union process would be nice though. Even with 0 lag it takes like 3-5 seconds to load the "YOU SURE UNION?" box to join one, theres like 4 confirmation screens too... Talk to NPC > Union > Wait 8 seconds > YOU SURE?! (Defaulted on no of course) > Pick uniEVENT SKIPPED
2) This isn't a bad idea, But I think it might be difficult to program a mob not to aggro for 5-10 seconds after becoming in aggro range. Dunno how it would be done ...But if it did work it'd be nice, Sometimes, especially with Boss-NPCs, They run so fast and with the lag, They're hitting you before you see them...

Except that being in a Union alone tends to limit your loot potential, which has always puzzled me when I get to the NPC and see a bunch of 1s or 2s. I mean, if you're happy with Smilodon Hides and such, sure, but it's the collective evaluations of people that unlock currency and other goodies. Yeah, losing lots sucks, but it's not like the pools fill with super leet endgame gear.

This is why I union by myself. The only thing that gets more loot is killshots. Loot is based off how many enemies you kill, Each enemy can "Drop" something when you kill it.
So bigger union just means more people to killshot, but 1 man or 10 man you have the same "chance" for loot. It depends on who killshots.
If im in a solo union and i kill shot 4-5 Mobs, I'm going to see ~4-5 items in my Union spoils. Each zone does have "Zone drops" that seem based off your exp, But those are mostly junk anyway.
but it's the collective evaluations of people that unlock currency and other goodies.

Alright, done. *sniff* Does anyone else smell burnt flesh? (http://bjays.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/flaminghand.jpg)
I skip Unions 95% of the time. I'm usually late to the battle because the /cmap is so laggy and the messages in town are useless (unless someone can explain to me how to properly read them). I'd rather try to claim a mob or get out of the way of the incoming wave than spend another 30 seconds joining a union. I'd love for union registration to be automatic or part of the Allied Tags dialogue.
Click "Receive Allied Tags"
"Would you like to register for a Union at this time?"
None.
Adder.
Bison.

Now you receive tags and NPC buff spams.

Kind of amused that in all the campaigning of jobs I'd done to 75 in the old days, I never saw a hundred. Either way, I usually attempted to be pretty active on kills since old evaluation beliefs meant you'd get a bonus in EXP per. Granted, if that was true, it'd often mean a battle would have to drag on for a bit for it to matter much with the tag/time mechanic.
Either way, I'm not doubting killing specific mobs tends to yield specific spoils, though it's always been my feeling more active members serves as a sort of TH when it comes time to dole out that loot on top of the kills, as well as possibly increasing the amount of loot slots the casket can load. I'd be interested to see if a solo union could get more than 5 items in their pool, though can understand a possible difficulty in pulling that off if NPCs or other players are involved.

100's only drop from the "Big bosses", Conquerer Bagkodek, Di'Dha Adamantking(or w/e), and the Yagudo that looks like Tee Xicu with the 4 Elementals.
Either way, Its actually more beneficial as a whole to spread people across unions, Any union with ~7-8 People could hit the 10 item cap (and then stuff gets pushed out), especially in long battles. So having people spread across unions introduces more items as a whole!

This right here, honestly, seems like the best option.
As for Hundreds, I've never seen a hundred drop from anything including the big bosses.
I kinda got busy yesturday and forgot about this thread till now. Hope the suggestions fall on the ears of a Rep.

Big bosses only have a chance to drop 100, Usually quite rare. I got damn lucky.
Sorry to bump, but I'm hoping a Dev can see this.

They're stingy bastards too, I regularly bury my axe in Bakgodek's face and he's yet to put out the goods. :(

Campaign is like poor men and women version of Walk of Echoes, they should revise and polish this even better, but sadly SE seems pretty much to give up on WoTG expansion with very little efforts were made to adjust and refine it. I mean, tons of people tried to give so many suggestions for how to improve campaign, and yet it looks like these have been wasted efforts. Come on, at the very least acknowledged them and respond.

<3 <3 <3 i can feel your pain!
I'm feeling optimistic ... this is our week! The Dev team has been pouring over years of Campaign suggestions, complaints, and statistics and finally... great news about the future of Campaign!
Surely the Community Rep team will deliver!

Look at you, contributing.
As for the WoE comparison, I disagree. WoE is a hot mess, Campaign was easy even at 75 and at 99 I regularly solo entire enemy detachments 2-4 at a time with Lulu spamming Whirl Claws. Om nom nom nom, Orcses are delicious. :3
WoE is a pet job playground, if you can get a full group of 36 to go together it's a pushover event, the bosses folllow the "rape everything within 20' instantly" design philosophy of new age content. There's plenty of Fanny drinks and things like that, but you have to remember to comment on the random WAR chugging fannies when you see it. It's a rule.
Death should get removed from leaders, or atleast make the NPC resist it. I did a Xarc once Embrava'd the whole Bastok army. the Leader runs up to the Demon boss and gets death casted on him first thing, then bastok retreated.

Seriously!! They need to update WoE really bad, put NPC to warp you direct, make it so that you get access to those temp items similar to Voidwatch and Besieged with boost MP + HP. It's ridiculous how they don't even bother to adjust the str of the monster that pretty much wipe every other jobs within sight unless you come as pet based jobs. To think that they extend this backward design to philosophy to Legion is beyond comprehension.
