View Full Version : Bundles, New storage proposal!

Well, even with all the new storage methods i myself find serious storage issues, having 7, nearing 8 jobs at 90, i just find i dont have enough room! The mog-slips are a boon to this, but with new augments to old gear making them unable to be stored, some other non-storeable gear becomes a hastle too! So what to do about it?

MORE ITEMS!

Yes, you read it right, more items. In this case, Bundles!

What is a bundle? Simple! Its a stack of clothes. Allow me to explain below!

Bundles are both a service (provided in-game by players? or moogles perhaps? Or perhaps making it automatic under the propper circumstances?) Which grant the ability to take a full set of gear, and compress it into 1 inventory space. Allow me to explain with the popular Perle set. (Please forgive any spelling issues)

-Perle Salade
-Perle Hauberk
-Perle Brayetts
-Perle Gauntlets
-Perle Sollerets

A great set, not the best, but it gets the job done, but when you are on your non perle-wearing classes what do you do? Bundle it, either via command or automatically via the autosort menu function. At this stage the 5 items which are stock (unaugmented) would instantly be tallied, checked to make sure all 5 are present and them compressed into "Perle Armor Set" or "Perle Armor Bundle" which is a useable item that takes 1 space. From here it gets a little foggy, but i theorize you could take out the bundle, use it in town, and it becomes 5 items again if there is room in your inventory.

How it could be done? Well i dont pretend to know the coding means, but simply it could be done when not in the inventry with autosort (safe, sack, satchel, storage, locker) which would effectively allow you to take an unstorable set like the perle, aurore, or teal, which at this time is un-augmented, and allow you to carry it all. Conversely there could be a function at all Mog house moogles or nomad moogles, or make it a function of porter moogles or their assistants. Now it wouldnt work on augmented sky gear unless it has a checking method, nor enchanted equipment with charges, but it would still allow you to keep important sets with static sets (base empyrean, +1 or +2, Artifact, relic, of nyzul gear) with you or able to compress them in your safe/locker to allow more room. Sure we could just add new storage options to existing npcs, but these allow you to keep them on hand.

Any feedback or alternate (STORAGE RELATED) thoughts can be brought up in this thread by the way. So start brainstorming!

Sounds awesome, but here's an even better option - remove it from inventory altogether. Key item that ish, and give us a single usable item to retrieve it when we need it. Make it buyable, and say peace out to the AF storage npc.

Like... what they already added recently?
"I c wut u did thar" but honestly the "bundle" idea is actually pretty unique provided it's not limited to just in town as suggested in the OP. So you could carry that set of gear with you everywhere as 1 item, then pop that item when you want to put on those 5 items. I can't summon a Porter Moogle to trade my storage slips just anywhere, but with the above "bundle" idea I can pop that open anywhere without having to run to the moogle and retrieve the items one-by-one.
If you could "re-bundle" them then all the better. For example, in your mog sack you might carry your Empyrean armor sets for a few jobs you play the most often. Let's say, 3 jobs. 15 items. Bundle them into 3 items. Now you've got 12 spaces to work with when you're not playing those jobs, but when you do, they're there any time (provided there's space in your bag to "unbundle").

LOL!! You know what, I wasn't even thinking about the porter moogles until you mentioned it. I was genuinely thinking that - buuuuut instead of a storage slip for all of them, just one item.

I had left it open to where it could be bundled, in your inventory could cause problems with auto-sort on, but if you used autosort in say sack/locker/satchel/storage/safe, then you COULD bundle it in the field and not worry about it auto-bundling things you would macro. But yeah i came up with the idea simply like how one lays out clothes in the morning, usually a pile, then un/redresses. And ofcourse not all sets would be able to be bundled, but there are many that could be bundled, would also encourage people to get all of and finish sets.

Make ALL armor sets (incl. +1 +2) storable, problem solved.

OP, I feel your pain.

For me, it's the seals for every job (I mean all 20) on 5 slots that's killing me. Why is there no NPC for this in the first place? I thought SE had learned something, and realized that managing inventory is not the height of online gaming excitement.

It's crystals that stack to 12 instead of 99. Arrows, bolts, bullets, all ninja tools, Virtue stones--all stack to 99. Crystals should stack to 99, and then have some kind "crystal quiver" that stacks to 12 stacks of 99 each.

The fact that "Storage" is available only in one's nation makes it of limited use.

Agreement, however i manage, i more was offering a different option, because as we all know, being able to put the items away is one thing, being able to condense more items that we can carry with us as needed is even better! Imagine having access to a very useful set in its entirety able to be yanked out of the sack with one click...Yeah i know there is a short list of sets that we can honestly say we would do that with (Morrigan's set from salvage id say as a rdm and blm might be useful... as well as +1/2 sets when not in use) but having that ability could be very useful, even with classes that still get use from their AF, Relic, and Empy gears.

I mean, yeah, this would be convenient. You could carry around and have access to a lot of armor, but I don't see how it would work in the field. You can't really stack items inside just the inventory menu. You would need to be able to bundle the items yourself without needing to go through an NPC...................

Unless you used an item like the Magian Specs that "summons" some kind if interface for stacking the items?

You would have to do it this way, because otherwise, going to an NPC in a town doesn't offer anything that isn't already given by Porter Moogles. .........

In fact, something like this could be used to summon your Mog House Moogle from anywhere!.... this will never happen.

Will never happen? Likely, CANT happen, not hardly. Why CANT it happen? Like i said, in the inventory, it wouldnt or atleast shouldnt work, but couldnt happen? Far from it, while it may be hard to code, like i said, some sub feature in autosorting your storages that arent your inventory could just have a check to check if select items are in it, similar to a trade window, or possibly how it checks if multiple items that can stack are present and stacks them, Likewise there could be a check that places all the x items of x set, removes them and replaces them with x set bundle, saying it cant happen, its unlikely, be difficult, but not impossible.

As for having the function via a NPC, im all for it that way too because while less flexible, you could by default have all sets except the ones you use bundled, then as you change jobs in a hurry, its faster to unbundle the gear than to run to a porter moogle, so if you need to rush to change and gear fast, it offers more flexability than we have now, even if after _____ event. Or those sets that cant be stored and are muled, wouldnt it be nice to bundle the whole set if you refuse to toss it? And while we are at it, why not offer perle/aurore/teal at the cruor prospectors pre-bundles for one lump sum price?
