Best starting server?

Hi, i'm not totally new to FFXI, I used to play a few years back.

Anyway I have set up a new account and made a char on Asura. But there doesn't seem to be many ppl about and I have been trying to find a LS for quite a while.

Are there any better starting servers out there with a higher population that I could change to?

I'll be totally honest. Asura is one of the most populated servers in the game right now. It used to be an absolute RMT(real money transaction) haven, but this has changed quite a bit.

In fact, the severe beatdown that has been served to RMT on this server has given it one of the most even-handed economies I have ever seen. If you work hard on the server you will be able to afford the things you want. 5 years ago you'd probably be lucky to buy a scorpion harness before quitting out of frustration, lol.

Keep in mind that Asura is also a merger of Asura players and Pandemonium players. This has no doubt had an equally positive impact on the economy.

As far as linkshells go, this is by no means specific to Asura.

1) Not that many people even play this game anymore (so people have gotten used to doing things alone).
2) The few that do typically have specific goals in mind before the curtain closes.
3) Most people who play have to budget their time wisely.

With 1,2, and 3 in mind...getting good linkshells is difficult because new players offer little resolution to any of those items. I could go on doing 1,2, and 3 and never know you existed.

This is not an Asura thing by any means...getting the right linkshell is tough. Period. When you find good people, do the following things:

1) Relish the time they make for you.
2) Return the same to them if you expect to get anywhere.
3) Realize the value in the relationships you have, and where you would be without them.

So then, where are the people you should be meeting on Asura?

I posted here about thebest servers. IDK for sure which is good, but anything more populus than Ragnorok seems seems to be a nightmare.
