View Full Version : Reset secret Q&A. Has anyone been able to do this?

Ok, I forgot my secret Q&A. I try to reset it inside the SE account but I need to know the secret Q&A to reset it. Apparently you need to know this to recover your account when you lose your security token. I gave SE support a phone call to reset my secret Q&A and I was sent an email with a snailmail address and a form that reads so serious I thought I was signing up for a new passport. The 1st line read something like this "I, name, here by declare, under penalty of perjury of the law of United States...". I live in Canada and I don't want to be extradite to US if I make a mistake in resetting my secret Q&A for a video game.

I highly doubt this snailmail thing could be processed anytime soon. I don't really need the secret Q&A, if I lost or break my token I'd just quit rather than bending backwards with this snailmail business. I still hope there is a simpler way for this and is asking if anyone have a similar problem?

I'm afraid the Customer Support would have informed you if there was any other way. :\

SE customer support is trash. Was why I hate to give up a 5 year char and start over.

Ugh... this game requires more security than my bank account and it's not that much safer. I don't know why SE have to do this. I thought the support guy was just screwing with me and there was actually a much simpler way to do this. Gmail could reset my password using my cellphone but why can't SE change something so simple with an email address or a cellphone number?

I guess I'm not going to go through the whole thing for a simple secret Q&A that I will probably never use until I lose my token. If I do lose my token or it runs out of battery or get wet in the rain then I'll probably just quit.

lol

I'm pretty sure Customer Support is literally nothing more than a person reading through an automated troubleshooter. There was a time when I couldn't get my CC payment to go through and I spent hours on the phone with them just to get the same, "I don't understand human reasoning, is there anything else I can help you with?"-type responses. Long story short, I found a solution online after digging for a while. I suggest you do the same.

Keep in mind that SE wants to die, though. It's becoming increasingly difficult to give them your money.

Oh right, sorry, I have to say I never really had to deal with the support here, and I guess I should consider myself lucky.
I was thinking in the mind-set of the other businesses and how I provide my support at certain places, among the others, so basically what I meant to say was they SHOULD be aware of every possible way there might be.

Indeed a good point, Selzak.

I haven't (yet) found anything that might help you, so all I can do is wish you the bestest luck!
It seems ridiculously silly if it has to be that difficult, but then again... yeah, I need to really remember where we are.
