Buyer beware : price hike on FFXI monthly payments

Those of you that have a NA POL account and EU SE account will be looking at a ~50% price increase of their monthly payments. And depending on how the financial situations in the US and EU take their course, that could potentially go up to +100% or more. And that's on top of the ~1.5% price increase on all types of accounts due to the shift from monthly payments to 30 day payments. (The big price hike is due to the SE policy of treating €1 as $1 and the forced move from import NA POL accounts($) to EU SE accounts(€)).

So if you are on a small budget, make sure to have those additional funds...

I think that is obvious, since they are using a US based charging company to bill European customers. The price fluctuation between the two currencies change constantly. However, because of the currency fluctuations, you might actually pay less (in value) than NA and possibly JP players from time to time.

In all honesty, everyone will pay about the same (in value) over time.

There is no price hike. That's the price you were supposed to be paying in the first place, you just got around it by creating an NA account when you weren't supposed to have one.

Dear SE, please start service in the Republic of Congo. Our money is worth way more than theirs, so I should be able to pay 1/10th as much by having my account based there!

If they are forcing everyone to convert the accounts to the proper region they should pay the same amount as that region.

Click and Buy is actually a UK company but thats but if SE wants to treat dollers = euros then you are going to be paying more based on current exchange rates.

Should SE really look at the exchange rates every month and adjust the UK's price accordingly ? Probably be too much work for them

The wouldn't take my US credit card to pay for my EU account. The same credit card that has worked fine for years. And, yes, its 3D secure or w/e.

You can't change your region as far as I know. As far as I can tell you have to have a credit card billing address in the same country as your (Square Exnix?) Account.

I ended up just using Crysta. I don't mind paying extra for the game, but I dislike being inconvenienced.
