I know i spend almost half a day trying too figure out what i should call my character i mean hey too some its easy but then again when you type the name you like too get for your characters its either already taken or maybee you change your mind in the last minute and still trying too see what name too put on your character then oh don't get me started on choosing which race you want too start in the game but thats another story!

How many hours have you spend making character? name...

I think I went through 30 names that were taken *no exageration* before I found the one I wanted the first time I played (8 yrs ago). But I'm not very good at coming up with unique handles. All in all I think I spent about 16 hours trying to come up with something good.

I just use the randomizer now for choosing names in mmos. It used to take me hours to decide on names for mains and alts.

I hate how long they hold onto names, this really makes you rage with server merges. All the best names are taken by people that quit many years ago and probably will never return.

Sounds like someone is frustrated they couldn't pick "Sephiroth."

I got lucky. My name is one I used on another MMO, and it was free. First time, first pick.

I agree, it's terrible.

On topic: I spend probably a few hours finding a name if my usual names are taken. Which is often, because I'm not the most inventive person in the world when it comes to names :(.

Auto-generate for the win!

I had nothing better to do while I waited for the game to update so I did some minimal research into a name that would sound nice for a mithra and be keeping with the feel that the NPC mithra have.

Took me ages, eventually I gave up and chose the first letters of random things around the house. When I was at "ARCO" I considered going with "Arcoholic" or something, but then the final letter came along and now I'm quite happy with it. It's also quite rare, for some reason, which means I get to use it on several places without conflicts usually.

With a help of friends who were playing with me... not every long. The name I wanted was taken so I mixed the name I wanted with one people already knew me as.

Three years later, I wish I choose a more 'mithran' name for my character or just let the random name generator decided. >.<

Since my usual alias at the time was taken, i tried random generator and didn't like what it came up with. I wanted something from LotR and Elvish somehow since i was planning to be a PLD and Tolkien's Elves got that Paladin Spirit ^^. I liked Morwen (Mother of Theoden) but the name was already taken too ;; ...

I was becoming pretty bored, so i tried to play with the way it's spelled, at the time i was reading Wheel of Time and i became found of that Aes Sedai named Moiraine. I mixed both and came up with Morwaine refering to Morwen and Moiraine.

I really like it ^^;

My first character had a name that was unusual enough to not be taken, though I can't remember how long it took me to come up with it. Then after I quit the game for a year and a half and came back and made my new one, I was sort of surprised the name wasn't taken. I ended up making it as a joke, but by the time I'd decided I was going to keep playing I was already like Lv12 and was too lazy to delete it and start my first guy over again.

My first character was a Hume F called Midena. From twilight Princess and maybe the whole series, Midna was my favourite character. Either way I later changed and played a Mithra (my current character) who I named Nianny since I didn't think Midena would fit her; Always liked the sound "Nia" for a name, so I just completed it with "nny".
I also have a mule called Suraj, which is a name I now tend to use for whatever character I create after making it up from "Surrah" (I think it was that), a name randomly generated by a name generator designed for FFXIV.

Mufuu took me about 5 seconds

Feynman

My first character was Dacoda and that was the second name I tried I think. Feynman was a first try. I was surprised wasn't taken. I figured it would be pretty popular among a certain group of people. Every now and then I'll get a tell from a physics geek like me that recognizes it!

But I did help a friend start an account and we searched for a couple hours to find a name she liked and that wasn't taken. She played probably about as long as we search for a name! So Amaliji is now just a mule on my account.

I looked through some of the randomized names but I was pretty certain what I was gonna name my toon. In fact my brother and I both named our toons from the same thing.

At first,I tried my RL name.but it's already taken cuz it's very common name..
So I tried game character name, which is not well-known ("Fantastic Fortune" Japanese girly game)

I realized it is little-known game.too much.among people I met for 9 years,no one know the game.

I wanted something to do with Ursa Major but Starbear didn't sound right and my brother had the idea to reverse it. My mules are stars in the constollation. Take something you enjoy, something that if a person would describe you to a stranger they would say, and start from there. Then you will find a name that you will be happy with for years to come.

SE! I want my name back I had for 6 years. Losing my name to a guy that has been inactive since March 08' in the merge is not acceptable!

I just choose my first name and surname initial lol really easy and i don't really care that much about the name it doesn't effect my enjoyment of the game what-so-ever.
