View Full Version : Blue: 3 procs | Red: 3 procs | Yellow: 3 procs.

Monster is spawned on Earthday. Under the current system the yellow proc will be either Fire, Earth, or Water based.
1 proc should be fire.
1 proc should be earth.
1 proc should be water.
Hitting all 3 procs grants maximized bonuses to rewards from victory.
Red Procs should follow the same kind of pattern, having 3 different possible elements to proc. Creating a WS under the "water" element would help with this.
And of course blue should follow suit. This is even more beneficial because with 3 different possible WSs that can proc, there is no need for "WAR or NIN onry" procing. There is more incentive (and reason) to invite more than one or two procers.
Just my two cents. Hopefully future procing systems won't follow this same kind of pattern or rule. But making the current abyssea proc system more generalized (and flexible) is a win-win situation, IMO.
Thoughts, criticisms, witticisms or rebuttals? Have at it.

Blue is already set into special groups; piercing blunt and slashing.
Only 3 weapons in Blunt, 4 in piercing, and who the hell would ever try slashing.
IDK I'm really tired of procs. I prefer going ape-sh!t from the start like I do during Empyrean Weapon building. Much more enjoyable than waiting for something.
It was good when it was new, and it was just a bonus if you got lucky. Now that everyone knows everything about it, it's not so great.

I stand corrected. Adding Blade: Yu to the red proc list would be good enough.
And blue procs would function like this:
Mob spawned/claimed during blunt time. There's 3 weapons. Meaning 1 WS from each weapon can be used to proc. 3/4 for piercing and 3/7 for slashing.
Addendum: I can't help but feel Leon's bashing on the player base with his first comment in this topic. Now that everyone knows everything about procing, it's not so good any more? What are you... daft? Just kidding, but really.
Everyone knowing everything about it is a GOOD thing. Yes, it's bad that it boils down to "BLM, WAR, NIN" being the 3 main procing jobs. That's why I say generalize it! Make it so that bringing a RDM in the place of a BLM still gives you a relatively decent chance at procing, even if it's just 1 of the 3 procs.

That's not what I was saying at all. I was saying that when people thought that yellow wasn't REQUIRED to get a drop and that it was just an added bonus for getting lucky, it was better than it is now. Now it's just "Need BLM" "No don't nuke, just proc and go away." "You didn't proc? Do it again." "Ok they were all clean but no proc, do them again" "Your actual nukes aren't proccing anything, stop using Blizzard V." I say that stuff to people all the time, not the go away part but still.
I think procs should be more like TH procs, random but there is a chance of getting it when you do a specific action. Voidwatch's system is much better than Abyssea's

I still don't understand your point... WAR being the premier job, absolutely crushing all other DD...
I don't understand how it differs from LOLSMN in that case, which would be the same situation if you are going strictly for damage (Like you said, keeping one avatar out at all times to reduce casting time to not lower your dps with your lolstaff). In which case you are just zerging, on a job that is meant for the opposite of zerging, hateless riskless damage.
Except SMN doesn't even have the utility of procs.
But please, everywhere you go doesn't have to be a melee smn discussion

The problem with how things were before yellow trigger was understood better, was that seal farming sucked at that time because it was just assumed that any NM kill would only drop maybe 1-2 seals ever.
I personally take it a step farther and won't seal farm unless I have a BLM and THF. <_< because 3-4 seals per kill is much, much, much, much, MUCH better than 0-1.

Well considering that even +1 gear is better than some of the absolute best gear at 75, the difficulty would comply with FFXI's previous record of being HORRIBLY long to accomplish the smallest tasks.
Yellow, Blue, Red being 100% certain on the mob is what makes Abyssea gear obtainable by trolls like Chyula (you would know him from Asura as being the guy who charges 5mil for you to use your Rani pop for him to brew and kill, and he still takes the earring AND the ring.) It's what a lot of veteran players loved about FFXI, exclusive gear that not every noob could obtain. I like Abyssea, but sometimes I wish not everyone could get an Ukon.

Actually, "WAR or NIN onry" procing is just for red. If you want Blue procs, you're better to pop during blunt with a mnk and whm since mnk can proc all blunt apart from hexa strike. Or go rng thf drg on piercing, especially since the thf and rng can increase TH to make blue more potent^^

Personally I'd like it to be something that builds up. Like in voidwatch if it were: BLU spells, you'd need 100 points worth of BLU spells. Head Butt could give 5 points, while Cannonball perhaps gave 12 and so on. That would mean you do not really need to find one single attack, but it favors you to mix attacks since you do not know which is best.
This way you know all you do on your trigger job, is positive. Instead of as usual make you wonder which one is the good move, and why you keep wasting time using the wrong ones.

You know, it makes me wonder if people know about a certain Abyssite (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Abyssite_of_Discernment) that allows you to know what weapon skill and spell(s) to use to hit blue/red/yellow.
SE took 75% of the guessing away from you. You want them to give you the exact spell/skill it takes to proc stuff? Why not just ask for the item in question without the work to put into it?

It's LOLWAR time. You are in a Maserati in NYC traffic. What's the plan, to stick your legs out the window to stretch?

Wouldn't having to proc with a skill chain and Magic Burst absolutely fry a few minds? lol
But I like the new dynamis form for proc.

I just really really want them to stop adding procs to stuff, it was cool for abyssea, but its not cool now. It's stupid in dynamis, and don't even get me started on voidwatch's loot/proc system.
A bit off topic:
and who the hell would ever try slashing.
I had every slashing proc before abyssea, because I leveled those for fun. But seriously, when my LS did stuff, we always did slashing and I would just go change if I needed to. And it works out great because people always wait til blunt to try and pop stuff or claim stuff, so it's always free during slashing. Like the other day I went and duo'd 5 turuls, and it was so funny. We'd zone in when slashing started and look for it, and we would never kill it before slashing was over, and tons and tons and tons of people would find us at the end of slashing hoping to claim it for blunt and be mad cause it wasn't gonna be up during blunt. So simply by merit of aiming for the time others do not want to do stuff you can gain incredible advantages, thats why people do slashing!
