Have any of you successfully soloed the WOTG battlefields? I have soloed most of it but I'm stuck on the long march north. I have tried to get friends to help and even tried shouting with no luck. I know if I wait a few weeks until new summons come out folks will be all over it, but I was trying to do this during my vacation. Any SMN SOLO battlefield strategies that worked for you and you're willing to share?

If you do the Bastok portion, you can solo all the way to WotG31 (Prelude to a Storm) on SMN.

I did.

Nothing hard about it either, just got to read the strats and figure it out yourself with your style of play.

Maybe I should trade cities. Windy has been easy so far this battle threw me for a loop thou.

Really? I gave up on the Fire in the Hole mission because it seemed so hard to get through an escort mission with so many quadavs everywhere to kill.

I'm instead currently on the Howl from the Heavens mission for windy, which I've been a while since it is hard to get people to come help.

I just in general find all the missions with "save NPC from hordes of monsters" to be hard solo.

Keep Stoneskin up on all NPCs, give out cures when needed, if needed, and have Ramuh take the brunt of the damage (Thunderspark is a life savor).

Few NPCs will die, but most will do the damage for you. Just keep curing them and keep kiting/Thunderspark.

Still, that bastok mission have you with a single escort scholar. You can't let anyone die, tossing up stoneskin is 100 MP to save her from like 300 damage, so it sounds not worth it. And I ran out of time when I tried to trio this with some people once. (SAM, BRD, SMN I think we were, not the most amazing combo, but I thought it would be enough to just kill all quadavs)

Maybe Neonii will come back and report his success with soloing it as well. Else I'll just have to assume you are slightly above the average Summoner in mission skill.

I have not changed cities yet because I am hopeful that I can get The Long March North finished first so I won't lose any more medals. I had a whm help for the only battlefield I did complete for the Windy missions. We followed the key npcs and healed them as much as we could while letting Garuda fight the mobs hitting the npcs. Finally me, and the whm were the only ones left all the npcs were dead. What we did was use garuda on the nm and when she died the whm would tank while I re-summoned. At the end of the fight me and the whm had no visible health left. So I won by the skin of my teeth. The Long March North thou involved demons and eyes and a NM. When I try to solo that mobs take me out before avatar can even get a sleep off. The one time I did have a rdm to help me the mobs started resisting her sleep before we could take out the NM, and then took me and her out. Therefore, I am stuck on this one, I soloed the rest of WoTg so far except that one battlefield where the whm helped me and this one where I am stuck. I don't think these battlefields can be soloed by the average smn.

You know you don't have to change cities to do any of the city storylines, right? I'm allied with Windy, completed Bastok storyline and all WotG missions. And I'm stuck on "The Long March North" too :( Has anyone soloed this on any job? All I've seen on wiki's are trios or more.

Don't think you can solo that one. Attempted it once as DNC/NIN and while it went moderately good at first, a -ga and IV spell later I was eating dirt. Just a bit too hard to face 5 monsters at once, with 2 of them being casting jobs with high spike damage that you need MDB against, and 3 hitting normally so you want evasion against them.

Part 2 of the Final Boss is definatly soloable by Summoner. There are varius videos on YouTube relating to it, and I personally got it down to 1% when I tried it. The other fights near the end, on the other hand require more, but I duoed the BC with the 4 Spitewardens as SMN+MNK (although Empryean MNK), just PD and Hundred Fists it.

I solo'd like 80% of the Wotg fights as Smn and that was pre 90. The Sandy Route is by far the easiest route to go for soloing.

Update in case anyone is interested I finally completed the fight with a group. Thank You if any of them read this.

Grats.

On a side note, I'm doing Sandy missions at the moment (because of 2 reasons, one being that the final fight for Basty missions really suck, and most of my linkshell did Sandy part of WotG when they finished the storyline) and so far, I find that storyline to be soloable by a SMN. I think you can go as far as Blood of Heroes before you need any help, and even then, from one more SMN.

Congratulations Neonii! I was stuck at that mission for quite a bit myself. I finished WotG last week myself. I was just about where you were and I solo'ed/duo'ed the rest of the missions and quests in just a couple of days. Some of the missions are going to require at least one other person, but you can safely do the Windurst quests on your own I believe. I used RDM to solo the Windy quests and WHM for the fights where you have help. I think SMN will work well for some battlefields, but might be tough for others. Keep us updated on your progress :)

PS
As a SMN, the Windy storyline was incredibly inspiring and entertaining! :D

Isn't the only amazing atma from windy path though? Biggest reason I'm doing it rather than the other paths.

hahahahahahahahahahaha.

The rings from Bastok and Windy are the only real rewards from the nation storylines. If you are doing the missions for the atmas....you are doing it wrong.
