Could the lower amber be why? I just don't understand. I thought SE made it easier for feet to drop. But this just seems nigh impossible.

If anything you got to much amber. If you get anymore then that you start getting HQ boxs every drop. you could even do with less azure if you have all the box abysites.

Fixed, and yes, amber needs to be capped (considering how high you are right now anyway). Though that doesn't mean you're gonna get what you want. Took me 12 straight hours with amber capped to see a single pair of ninja feet in a chest in there (of course, by then, me and the other person had gotten every other emp feet from that zone, and then some [that got floored]).

Don't bring Amber above 100. 80 is recommended.

Rank 2~3ish? boxes tend to have feet more often than 4 and even 5.

Depending on how many Abyssites of Destiny you have 80 to 120 ish range will give the best results. If you get amber cap its like getting to much ruby adding another box type I.E KI boxs. While base feet can drop in big gold boxs they have to beat temps, KIs items, augmented items etc so it adds one more item.

yep KI's/Temp's in gold chests start at around 120 amber. so it's best that u have 80 to 120 amber and not more.

Think you're having some severely bad luck, sorry about that; I went out there and CW'd for three or four hours a few days ago and got about seven pairs of feet. (SMN, SAM, SAM, NIN, COR, PUP, DNC; no BLU, which is what I was after, of course) I started with Amber around 80 but built it through red chests when I could, ended with it easily over 150.

I thought it was shown somewhere that having a higher Amber didn't adversely affect feet drops, since pop KIs replaced pop items in the possible drops.

When my LS cleaves for KIs, we usually aim for capped amber; once we get there, we seem to average between one and two per pull. We do get a bunch of temps, but we get a lot of those at lower amber also if I'm not mistaken.

I'll have to pay more attention next time and come back with slightly more solid observations though.

I've just started solo cleaving/CWing, I've had decent luck with both KIs (well, decent is relative, I already had all of the KIs from Vunkerl...) and feet (again, relative; got a lot of feet, just not the ones I needed...). I'll take your word for it on that though, since I haven't done it enough to have a decent sample size.

cap perl cap azure leave amber below 70 and avoid ebon!!! done tons and tons of cw farming took group from ls in had them key and build perle then come back and leech xp and key we got 17 sets of feet in 3 hours with 5 of us in vunkrel

What does ebon have to do with anything? Ebon does nothing to boxes. In fact, I suggest ebon, for more cruor per kill. What I don't suggest is ruby, which you need to get red boxes, to get ebon. I guess that's what you meant?

Ebon boosts the quality of the contents of your boxes - gives you a higher chance at getting higher-level boxes (it makes sense, right? white light = more boxes, black light = better boxes).

Like 1 ebon = 1 pearl, azure, amber, ruby, golden, and silver lights. Didn't SE said so before too?

Wasn't there something about the "campaign" content affecting feet drop? Or was that rumored? I think I read somewhere that the ward or whatever it's called had to be at a certain percentage to increase drop rates, or maybe I dreamt this...

The resistance statuses do affect it but make no marginal difference.

It really shouldnt matter. Ive seen double feet drop from large gold just the same has small gold chests.

If you have a ton of stones, can just go in with 120 mins, just get pearl and amber and should get mostly gold chests.

As with a lot of people here, I see most feet drop from small amber chests at around 60-100 amber. Most of the large chests (capped or close to cap amber) have temps, KIs, and synth items. Feet average drop rate with capped amber seems to be about 1 in 30 gold chest drops.

This is based on my Fell Cleave group.

And I have noticed ebon does seem to boost chest QUALITY as opposed to pearl.

I see most augmented items between 30-80 amber, and some at capped amber...

The thing is, the quality of the augments is higher with capped amber, but they appear less often. I guess you can use this info depending on if you're wanting dark rings to sell or actually use them XD

My experience only. My group and I have all 3 Destiny abyssites and such, so results vary between others.

Vunkerl is just evil. 9 jobs, and getting feet to show up can be a pain in the first place.

As people have said, don't cap amber. That's not going to help. If you DO end up with capped amber, kill fast, and don't waste any time. The more mobs you kill, the greater shot at seeing any. I've been in cruor parties in Misareaux, and we did see several feet even despite capped amber, because mobs died in 5 seconds. Then again, I've seen more feet in Misareaux compared to the other zones anyway.

That said... 5 hours is nothing (@OP). I've spent well over 100 hours amber farming Vunkerl for Scholar Empyrean feet, and I've seen everything but.

To SE directly: I honestly believe +2ing the empyrean armor shouldn't be easier than obtaining the NQ feet. That's the case for me - I have the stuff to +1 AND +2 Savant's Loafers, and it just doesn't drop for me. I understand it's all luck based for feet, but in a way, every single other piece isn't luck based, why should feet be? I do have my fair share of empyrean feet, but I've had the biggest problem obtaining Sch. Having 8 other jobs that can drop doesn't really aid the effort much, especially when they all hit the floor unless people want them by a miracle.

I find that capped amber, but with only 160 azure, really helps out with the drop rate on gold chests, while maintaining the TEs for soloing. (for farming rings that is)

Also, solo gold chest isn't hard, as long as you have the right job to do so. I got all 9 of the emp feet there, and in the chasm, I don't know how many feet I'm missing in the coast though, but I'm very close to 20 total in all.
