View Full Version : Improve triggering Abyssean NM staggers

Please allow us to stagger Abyssean NMs without waiting for it to finish casting magic, ready TP moves, being stunned, and do misc. animations (Cerberus howling).
This is already present in the Voidwatch NMs and Dynamis monsters, why not in Abyssea?

So, is there any plans to ease the process of triggering weaknesses of Abyssean NMs? It's annoying how easy it is to trigger weakness from Voidwatch NMs and Dynamis NMs but we have to wait until a NM is not doing anything to trigger something in Abyssea.

Ironclads are a pain to stagger since almost everything they do is considered a TP move.

Yea let's make FFXI even easier than it already is.

If you're against this, rationalizing about how easy it would be, then I guess Voidwatch NMs are too easy as well seeing how you don't have to wait until it's done casting/tp move etc? And you can stagger while it's staggered!
This is not about making things easier, it's about removing unnecessary flaws that can be easily implemented based on what already exists in other battle content. Trust me, on NMs that constantly does TP moves (Ironclads), casts too much (Tunga), there's no reason there should be restrictions on triggering weaknesses in Abyssea when there's none outside of it.

The only flaw I see was that they nerfed the staggers for voidwatch. Nerfing it for dynamis sure go for it.. dynamis is a tedious event anyone who has played for years has done over 9000 times. Nerfing new content that is the only "new" End Game alternative to abyssea is just sad.
If you, and your group have a hard time getting staggers on tunga, and Iron giants <that's too bad> Not everything in the game should be dumbed down to the point where preschoolers can excel at it. Honestly the only truly annoying Giant is the one in grauberg, and it's not like staggering that one is impossible. It just takes a bit more patience.
Man, this instant gratification mentality that abyssea has created is disgusting. /end rant

I'm not saying it's hard, and I'm not asking it to make things easier for me. I just don't see the logic in having limitations on staggering in Abyssea when it's not applied in Dynamis and Voidwatch. I know it's not impossible, but it's just an unnecessary annoyance. It's causing us to waste not only our time but other people's time waiting to kill a NM for a key item pop.

I see your point that it is a bit strange to have Abyssea be the only system that requires the player to try around the actions of the mob; some continuity between the systems or perhaps all three being somewhat different would be appreciated. I personally do not think this is something that needs to be done though.

The logic is simple..
Voidwatch you need to stagger 2000000000 times to build lights. You have a limited amount of time to kill the mob, so stuffing around trying to get a clean stagger on these (especially the rate at which TP / Spells are spammed by voidwatch NM's) would be next to impossible.
Abyssea you need to stagger 3 times max (usssssually only 1 or 2 depending on what you are going for). You have unlimited time to do this (providing the mob doesnt die). Honestly, if you can't figure out your staggers and land them, then there is something wrong.
No, dumb idea. Agree with everyone else in this thread. No to this. Please don't make this game as easy as Pacman.

No, Let's not do this. Staggering in Abyssea is fine as it is.
