View Full Version : Suggestion: Stay Command for Avatars

With the implementation of Avatar's Favor, there's one command I'd love to have to go along with it. The ability to park my Avatar in place in a passive/non-defensive state. For instance, if I want to give my Ninja friend Garuda's Favor while he's tanking I either have to stay within range of him to grant favor or I have to engage Garuda on the monster which he may not want me to do.

Also, Avatars sometimes have the habit of defending the Summoner in situations where he or she may not wish or actually need to be defended. A Stay command would help with this as well.

I posted this on another site's feedback forum, but I figured I may as well post it here too. Apologies to anyone who's seen it before.

Why the work around way? Easier to just ask for pets to not give TP at all. Suddenly your Ninja friend have no objections to you having the pet up front buffing him and dealing damage.

There is of course the ancient problem of 18 SMNs killing anything without feeding TP... but what in this game will not be broken by 18 SMNs anyway? I mean, can someone mention a single NM that 18 SMNs would have trouble killing, and explain how dealing no TP would suddenly make it too easy?

Workaround? Actually I was going for simplicity itself. But still, even if the pets gave no TP they would still do damage which may cause problems when an NM is being particularly annoying to proc weakness on.

Actually, there aren't that many mobs where having an avatar attack it would be horrible, and the few that do don't really need the buffs that Favor gives.

If you want to give your NIN friend Haste, just sic Garuda on the mob, do Hastaga, do Wind Blade/Predator Claws, release/retreat. Minimal TP gain on the mob, your NIN friend is buffed, and damage has been delt.

Honestly I wouldnt mind a stay command, but it'd be more useful if it was like a Stay + Defend cos avatars don't exactly last very long taking hits. However its still also useful as a stay in range for BP but dont feed TP method.

The only other issue I see here is how this would be used in relation to avatar's auto-attack instinct.
