For those of you who failed to notice SE has found a way to generate more cash without seeming to raise fees. Effective with the switchover to the Acct Management System the billing cycle will be every 30 days instead of every month. This means that we will be making 13 payments every year instead of 12. <ref "Account Management System Transfer Followup" on the main web page>
Second item. It appears that SE will be implementing the purchase of Crysta as a method of payment. Question for SE. Will the purchase of Crysta for FFXI be kept seperate from Crysta purchased for FFXIV when it goes to subscription or will all purchases be pooled. Answer will determine how I pay for FFXI in the future.

Even banks say "30 days" in their billing cycle. This is no different.

to me it is. I am 64 and retired and living on a fixed income that is deposited on the 1st which coinsided with the current billing cycle. With this new system I now have to adjust my spending habits slightly to ensure that I have funds available prior to the end of the month in order to pay for my subscription. Not a major problem but if I had not read the notice completely I might have had a problem at the end of Sept.

Crysta is simply a faux currency. When you buy it, you can then spend it on whatever services will accept it. I'd imagine that you can spend the Crysta you buy on FF14 and FF11 however you like. However, I will caution that the Crysta system in general suffers from the same failings as most corporate-sponsored faux currencies in that you can never buy $12.95 worth of Crysta. You buy $15 worth, and are left with a remainder that rolls over every month. Crysta then expires at a point 2 years after the Crysta point in question was bought, effectively barring you from stockpiling too much Crysta in advance.
Considering I have a VbV debit card, would I personally use Crysta? No. I'd lose money by being forced to forfeit whatever remaining Crysta is left over in my account. Would someone who would have to pay some sort of fee anyways to get a gamercard or a checking/debit account opened up benefit by using Crysta? Possibly. It's just situational.

I understand what you are saying but in my case it would be more convient for me to buy enough Crysta to cover a month worth at the beginning of a month. Eventually FFXIV will go to subscription and their previously stated billing is different from FFXI. I already have enough to cover the first 6 months there. That is why I would like to keep them seperate

30 days is the generally accepted billing cycle for almost everything.
One thing I would strongly recommend doing no later than the 24th July (there will be Registration Server Maintenance July 25 - 26) is to update your account information especially if you haven't done it in a while. At least you will know your current information is correct prior to the migration and any problems can be ironed out beforehand.

Rizon, I think you need to check your math. 365 days is 12 months and 5 days. So Ok we pay an extra $2 per year.

Poeple have been asking for this for years. To be billed from the time the start the payment not just the 1st of the month.
For those of us that get payed once a month that falls after the first this is great news.

Question for SE. Will the purchase of Crysta for FFXI be kept seperate from Crysta purchased for FFXIV when it goes to subscription or will all purchases be pooled. Answer will determine how I pay for FFXI in the future. You have one crysta balance for your account. It's not per game. I don't know how this would determine anything for you. It's not any better or worse as a result.
Also, you will not pay 13 times a year instead of 12. There are a grand total of 5 days past a multiple of 30 in the year, which means that you will pay an extra time once for every 6 years. Sorry, but you lose. This is not a gimmick to make more money.

If anything this new system will save money, you can reactivate a new char on say the 29th of a month and not have to pay the full-monthly fee for the 1-2 days before its the 1st again.
Speaking of billing, does anyone else have issues every month with being kicked off the game?
I've never changed my credit card except for the expiration dates since playing, yet ever since the earthquake disaster I've been struggling with Square Enix every month to get my game back. It's frustrating, especially when that credit card verification thing doesn't work sometimes. ;~; I think I'm being double billed each time, too.

Clearly I don't 'know' for sure but given how POL accounts are linked to an SE account at the moment I see no reason to think the Crysta balance would somehow be marked for one game or the other, especially as SE have said all along one of the ideas of the SE account is to centralise payments for their 'franchise' in general.

the crysta option is a good deal if you do not have or want to use a debit or credit card. It is easy to buy. I use time card in Aion and wow and found it helpful just buy enough crysta to last you the year if you are the think ahead type. This waya you are not over purchasing. Plus also it keep you from ID theft by not putting your CC/ dc info up. I kore or less get 3 mnths worth so I'm only hving to buy it once every three mnths :)

Quoted for importance. This should end most of those false double billings.
I think I'm being double billed each time, too. You're not. Except for this one recent incident (which they fessed up to right away), an actual double billing is an extremely rare occurance. Failing verification does not result in new charges. Please review your fees in the viewer before throwing stuff like that around.
