I was reading the announcement on the account transfer that's going to start on the 27th of July and part of it worried me a little.

<Services that will end after the transfer>
-Friend List Application

Does that mean just the online application of Friends List Plus or will we actually not have it on POL?

Edit: Ok So I was about to link my account with SE when before pressing enter It said that I wouldn't be able to use my friends list anymore. So no being able to see when my friends are OL? No more messaging them? Has anyone actually transferred their account and have any changed to their friends list?

If you read the above from that topic it notes:
<Services that will use the PlayOnline ID after the transfer>
-Friend List Plus
-LinkShell Community
-Community Site Link Registration Requests
-Player Event Support Requests

Which mentioned Friend list Plus so that doesn't seem to be what they are getting rid of. Looking through Google rq it seems it may have directly translated the text for something that was only meant for the Japanese playerbase.

This seems to be the application in question but I don't believe there is an English version of it.

Would it make a difference to anyone if they did or didn't have their friend's list anymore?

"Friend List Plus" is the widget that lets you access your Friend List from playonline.com (right above "Character Reactivation Service" along the left-hand side).

I noticed that line as well, and I've not yet gone through with the process yet, but I suspect that axing the POL /friendlist is about making room for the FFXIV /friendlist to be the One True Friend List between both games.

Personally, I'm anxious about what will happen to the Group List my LS uses to chat in POL during maintenance.

OK, just verified with someone who drank the Kool-Aid, PlayOnline /friendlist is unaffected.

"Friend List Applcation" probably refers to some Japan-only feature that slipped by the localization folks.
