View Full Version : Thank you, Dev Team.
I just want to say "Thank you" for your continued work on this game. I love the game. I have loved the game since the day it came out. I have loved pretty much every change and/or update you have made over the years.
It's so great to log on one day and have new abilities or spells to play with on a job I've been playing for years. Thank you for the recent Samurai and Paladin job tweaks. These are my two favorite jobs. I get to rediscover them every time you make an update like this. I get to rethink and experiment with new gameplay styles and tactics.
Yes, we really want new content... new areas, new stories, new adventures. We want it and we will pay for it in the form of an expansion (or mini-expansion series). I just hate to read these forums and see nothing but bad mouthing of the work you've been doing. Your continued efforts keep me coming back for more - checking these forums, logging in to the game, and talking about it with friends who used to play (every once in a while, they come back for a month or two).
Again, thank you for all that you do, and for keeping this world alive and ever-changing. A whole lot of us love it.

Please feel free to add to this (that's why it's a forum topic) but please refrain from turning this into another "FFXI is nothing but a cash cow and they dont care and the devs are lazy and drop PS2 and FFXIV is killing the game and everything they do is too little too late" thread. Thanks!

They haven't done anything to be thanked for yet.

I show my thanks with my wallet. Money speaks louder than words; words are for grievances and suggestions.

I think concerns would come with their road map, granted it's only up til this upcoming next Major VU but it does make one wonder what we'll see after this August update. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/4937-The-FINAL-FANTASY-XI-roadmap-for-the-twelve-month-period-commencing-April-2011
I think a major issues comes down to how they make use of the content they release. if you compare the release of expansion to WoTG you would notice that it was just downright awful with how they released the missions/quest at just a pitiful pace to stretch out the usefulness of the expansion. With how much they procrastinated completing WoTG there could have been room for another expansion to fill the void.
Truth be told the main reason why they probably stretched out WoTG as much as possible was because of the release of XIV, they may have been hoping it be a hit and that they'd be able to work on a world they could expand easier but they made it to bare bone which hurt them in the end lol.
If you take a look at SE's progression since WoTG they attempted 3 story mini-expansions which fell flat because of their false promises to actually change it to make them more unique. When it came down to it each story followed the same progression, obtain 3 item finish quest one. The three stories just didn't have enough flavor to really add anything. What may have worked in context with the stories is if they introduced new areas even if it was just one for each story, at least then there would be a reason to get it. While players do enjoy story they also enjoy good gameplay which in the end those 3 stories didn't offer. I still haven't gotten the other 2 stories nor have I finished the first one mainly cause of how poorly executed it was.
Now they did learn from their mistake when they released abyssea, basically a content area that offered a heck of a lot more for it's 10 bucks then the first 3 mini-expansions could ever offer.
Now what would be nice is if they could find a middle point between abyssea(game content) and mini-expansion(story). While abyssea had a "story" it felt more thrown in there to create a floodgate to ease people into obtaining certain abyssites and unlocking the final battlefield.
Now if I were SE and planning on releasing a new expansion I think I would attempt to do it in more of a generous manner rather then stretch it out as long as possible. I would say each expansion should be released in three parts 10 bucks each maybe offering something to those who get it when it first comes out rather then when they decide to lower the price and offer a special gift.
Let's take the Far east for example. For the first expansion I would have the city developed and possibly 2-3 territories. For the next expansion I would add the beastmen forts for entry, maybe add a new game concept and make sure that the middle of the story is added. For the last part of the expansion I would include a final battleground, end game content for reach the end and make sure the final of the story is reached. Now if this is done during a 3 month period between each one I think it would be a decent way to release content.
While I know a main issue does come from ps2 limitations, I'm sure if they thought about it they could consider ways to use copy paste models for the ps2 version while giving pc/360 unique models to save on space. I just keep hoping that maybe we'll hear of an actual expansion to expand on the world as a whole and go through a new story. I just hope that if something like this does happen they'll release the content at a better pace rather then try and squeeze the most out of it.
Thank you for being more open & vocal SE. Just remember actions speak louder than words!

Yes I am pleased with many things. Not the least of which was moving jean the op warp guy in sandy. That in itself is huge for ppl on console :) If we get some new PvP in a future update that would be awesome! Keep up the good work.

Samurai is their pet job (this is undeniable fact; and I will prove you otherwise with factual observations and statements noted otherwise; been playing this game too long to not see it)

You mean Samurai that was actually largely useless for most of abyssea?
Cause WAR, DRG, MNK, DNC, DRK are all useless and are nothing compared to SAM right?

I'm talking about pre-abyssea love, where the real game is.

Oh right, I guess we will just forget that abyssea existed for over a year and that SAM had no use during that time.

Except for it excelled in that area just as well as the other DD? (the only true jobs that suffered in Abyssea were Support jobs; since you could self buff with Atma/Abyssite/Stat enhancements). But like your original intentions, you've derailed the thread from the topic so to bring it back.
Thanks Devs and community reps (especially the PR guys) but remember the spread the lovin' around! :D

SAM had no crit based GKT WS which hurt them. Also they couldnt do very many red procs so no, sam was not as well as other DDs inside abyssea.

WAR has always been close to SAM in DD capabilities, its just that SAM was loved because you could noob your way to damage.
Now WAR is the noob's choice, but good players will always shine in any job, regardless of what it is. Even PUP.

I agree with the OP. I tried this type of thread once and it quickly turned into what it is now. Nice try though :/
