Over the NA night there were several developer posts that comment about things like Black Belt and others. While these posts were in response to specific JP threads, it is important that this information is provided (translated) to all of the players in FFXI. We understand that the NA team translating these posts may cause a little bit of contextual confusion, but a short explanation of the preceding thread can easily correct that issue.

This forum is huge improvement for the community of FFXI, it would be unfortunate if you let a perceived cultural bias emerge because you are not providing all of the developer information to ALL of your players.

Thanks.

Hey Ringthree,

Thanks for your feedback!

We're aware that the community is eager to read any and all information posted by the development and operations teams in other regions. We're currently devising a flow that will streamline that process and make it easier for everyone to find out what's being said around the world.

In the meantime, here is what was discussed regarding the Black Belt specifically:

"We currently have no plans of easing the way Black Belt is obtained. Due to the increased level cap, we believe that the ease has already been affected.

We're actually looking into items that are more powerful than Black Belt for the future, and if they were to be introduced there may be a possibility that we re-visit adjustments for Black Belt acquisition."

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I had hoped for when it comes to translations. I am glad you guys have been keeping this in consideration.

I don't really believe there is much difference in the opinions of most NA and JP players about the game, so a lot of the time we just need to know what the Devs and Mods are saying because we already have context.

O.O more powerful than BB?! :D that's what I want to hear!

That just leaves D-Ring and possibly C Pants as the last of the Zilart-Era gear to (finally) be outclassed. Makes me feel better about having picked a Faith Torque over Strider's Boots now too from the Bonanza.

The NM itself was never that hard by the way, it's the ridiculous spawns. Abyssea's greatest attribute to me isn't the crazy fast EXP (though that's certainly a major plus) it's the ease of access to NMs. Even though some are hotly contested, the fact that you never need to wait more than 15 minutes for a crack at one is the best thing ever. I for one would like to see this approach taken to older content.

At first I was like "wut" . . . and then I read the username, so then I was like "of course he'd want something even more powerful than the most brokenly powerful Waist item in the game." -_-;

At 75, a lot of those NM's were easy to fight with low numbers, so they were already easy. Being that a lot of the gear that drops from these NM's are outdated, there really isn't any reason why these NM's should be on a 21-24 hour timer.

It appears that the focus on the game is to alleviate time restrictions or time sinks via updates to make the game more readily available to players who don't have a lot of time (Changes to FoV, Upcoming Dynamis changes, etc). There really isn't any need to keep NM's on a 21-24 hour timer anymore, and should be put on a standard 2 hour timer.

If I may ask a question, are the devs still so out of touch with the player base that they believe difficulty of killing the three kings had anything to do with anything beyond getting claim?

Let's go one step further and make Fafnir a lottery from the Darters, or Behemoth a lottery out of Light Elementals!

I have a better idea. Make it 5 KS to pop the 99KS wyrm. Much easier to get and do a ton of than camping lottery pops!

There was nothing hard about the actual fights, unless you count the fighting between LS waiting for Kings to pop.

I think being level 90 made it easier for the people who didn't have access to a competent LS, friends etc. I mean, you have to admit that you see A LOT more people with a black belt on now than before.
So I agree with the community rep. that the level cap has actually made it easier than before.

I think the integrity of the game has already been destroyed. I would like the dev team to start putting it back in by makeing the old content relevant again. example take the af from dynamis and make it part of the needed items for 99 gears.
