I logged in and was astounded by the massive change, well done Square the intro screen blew me away...not.
I expected something good when I read it, the reality made me laugh. :(

They redid the title screen, but forgot to update the expansion banners...

the title logo looks way better, but the buttons look really weird.

its nothing shocking, the buttons and the title logo are just higher resolution now- less pixelly.

They didn't do it with the character selection screen though. Guessing that's next update?

No they redid the expansion banners too.
They also added official support in FFXI config for resolutions up to 2048x2048 as well as non square resolutions. (you can now match your Overlay and Background resolution) Unfortunately if you want exact double resolution you still need to edit the registry.
I think they should just eliminate the "Background" resolution field and replace it with a "full scene supersampling" checkbox.
