For then next 2 level breaks, can we farm items or do a long quest or anything? My whole family plays (- mom) and we all find it really teeeeeeeedous to have to get merits (that are not going into abilities) just to break limit.
The grinding before grinding needs to go. And honestly, yeah, I'd rather farm.
(And before you do it I know your gonna do it...)

yeah, I'd like something other than get X seals and X merits - the original 60-75 Limit Breaks had us going to get special items and ended with a fight with a badass
While it's possible there will be more in the future, It's prolly not likely (who's ever heard of a FF that has a level cap higher than 100?) so lets finish this up with something cool and creative, SE...

Doubt it'll be done, but this actually does sound pretty fun. Sound like it'll be awful for SMN (maybe a few other jobs, too) though.

NO IT DOES NOT!! This is a fear I've had for a while. Give me G4, 6, 7, and 8 over 5 ANY day. For the most part, limit breaks are just annoying and time consuming, but G5 is a while different animal that leads to more frustration and people quiting than any other thing in the game. I wasn't even going to post in this thread til I found this comment that could make this game an even bigger nightmare for years to come.

LOL, you shouldn't complain about getting merits now. Merits in the old FF were much more tedious than now!

How about we just get our level caps done quickly and effortlessly and they add more productive content -outside- of the stupid mandatory quest?
What is up with people wanting the most pointless things to be overly complicated. Its a limit break, not an AF quest or Storyline Mission - there is absolutely no reason for it to be so complicated you have to have a bunch of people do it, nor is there a reason for it to be some frustrating fetch quest.
The reason SE made it merits and crests is because you'd be getting them going to Abyssea anyway -- so you can do things you actually want to do -- finish the Genkai and then get back to do things you actually want to do. The quests are nothing but distractions. Let's have them be simple and get them over with so we can do something ELSE.
As it stands, a merit takes like 30 seconds to get in any decent Dominion ops party. There's no reason that should be frustrating to anyone.

There are people who have somewhere to place their merits?
I've been capped out on them since months. Though I do not leech all jobs to 90 to get more merit categories.

I would like another battle-type limit break quest for 95 to 99...but, I would not want the same kind of headache that Maat provides...

Your jobs arent capped merits and you arent sitting on 20/20 with 9999exp? I am envious. I wish I could earn EXP on jobs 75+ again...

I'd prefer a "Final Battle" type quest for each job that unlocks a special Job Ability at 99 and has to be solo'd.
Instead of Maat, have you fight people representative of your job -- like Shantotto for Black Mage. You and them duel, and you get a special spell or ability at the end of the fight.
Make it a hard one that requires real strategy and know-how as opposed to the random stuff you used to have to do.

I'm actually not against this, as long as the fight doesn't come down to luck. I've heard horror stories about the SCH fight against Schultz and I do not want to have any part in that. It actually makes a lot of sense for the final level cap. You should have to best someone who specializes in your job to reach the ultimate limits and unlock some new power. Ultimately, it would just be Maat Ver. 2.0 so I can see why the development team might want to do something else.
I'm also in favor of just about anything that leads to more on screen Shantotto time. Ohohohohoho~!

You want a luck-based battle? THF Maat. 'Nuff said.

you have to look back and realize that back when they introduced the cap increase past 75 98% as my honest guest already had at least 1 if not 2 jobs capped out so we went through each cap increase logically and sequentially. where as if you are playing for the first time through those levels recently after the changes it feels tedious but it really wasn't at first introduction. I just helped a friend get everything he needed for 75-90 and all he had to do was max his merits out at 20/20 +9999 which isn't hard in a good party and he was set through to 90.
90-95 will obviously also need merits so just store em.
It appears your chosen choice of priorities is causing your grief. If you prioritize merits over level cap increases of course your going to run into problems with constantly having to go back to get more merits for cap increases.
Personally like I told my friend push through to 90 then focus on meriting your job and char out.
Its just a suggestion.

But the dragoons are dead! Also that sort of fight already exists as the SCH/BLU/COR/DNC for 75. But yes a fight that requires players to think adverse to just "Lets zerg this thingy"
