View Full Version : non-japanese players with japanese account, paying with webmoney

hello.
I'm sure there are some other players out there with JP accounts.
we are some sort of heroes because we gone mad with the webmoney.jp system to keep our accounts alive, after they decided to don't accept no more the non-japanese c.c.

now POL won't let us buy extensions, no more, our accounts will freeze the July 31.
what we have to do? I asked info in the JP session and a GM helped me, saying they are preparing a new feature in the SquareEnix management system (jp): we'll have to link our POL id in the S.E.id (another type of link, not the token link) then we'll be able to buy extensions again, with webmoney or crysta I think.

because all of this will be in jp, I ask for help, if someone of you can post a screenshots guide of HOW we have to do all, thank you.

p.s.
pay my fee in a videogame: it had to be an easy process, but with SE JP it's always getting more complicated every years... I want to pay, but tell me HOW!!

They won't be releasing details until late in July.

Not quite certain what you mean with "we'll have to link our POL id in the S.E.id" but I'm assuming you were told about the Square Enix Account.

What is a Square Enix Account?

A Square Enix account is a free service provided for authentification in all of Square Enix's online services. Besides its use in all future online services, one can also associate multiple IDs from current services to a single Square Enix account and enjoy features only available to Square Enix account holders.

After obtaining an account, users can easily associate PlayOnline games such as FINAL FANTASY XI with their account.

You can start the registering process at:

https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/register?

Or rather than following a links from some guy at the forum, follow the links from your favourite official PlayOnline or Square Enix site (such as this; check the logo at the top left corner).

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your issues(s), but I do hope this helps!

I have already linked my POL id with a new S.E. id, and even the registration on this forum already requires this, but maybe I can't explain well my problem, I'm not NA, anyway I hope Square will release details soon, because webmoney payement system is blocked now and I can't buy August, but if they will improve a new feature "late july" I think is late.

Greetings, katoplepa

Due to the preparation for the migration to Square Enix Account, the payment of monthly fee from August of 2011 and beyond cannot be processed on PlayOnline Viewer by using WebMoney.

In case the payment method is set to WebMoney, migration process needs to be completed before the payment can be made. Once the migration period begins, the monthly fee payment can no longer be made through PlayOnline Viewer. So please complete the migration process before the subscription ends.
* Once the migration process is completed, your PlayOnline account will migrate to the Square Enix Account that your PlayOnline account is currently linked to.

Migration period is scheduled to begin in late July.
Specific details on the migration process will be provided within the Square Enix Account Migration site, which is scheduled to become available in late July.
Until the announcements are made, please wait patiently.

Thank you.

anyone with JP account out there ?

Ah yes, I didn't think about the forum requiring that at all (I registered and linked my POL account with SqEX account when it was first possible, more than a year(?) ago.

About this migration, yeah, that is not yet possible and further information on how it will be done you will have to wait just like the rest of us.

You did explain it well enough, I was just still more or less asleep. :]

They said in the FAQ that when this goes live, they will allow people to link pol account from any region to any other region.
The issue is that our accounts are already linked to the Japan region SE account. And you can't unlink a POL account once it is linked.

What would be nice for us tho, is if Square Enix will let us transfer regions on the SE account.

katoplepa

yes, we missed the opportunity.
anyway, when we have to buy expansion pack, I think we was having to buy it from JP anyway...

what is your payment method? I'm with webmoney because they don't accept non-JP credit cards, and I'm waiting to see how we can keep on with webmoney...

I'm linking to a thread on the Japanese side in behalf of bungiefan who is currently unable to use this forum and asked me to /poke it a bit elsewhere.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/10513-あなたが別の国に移動したときにどのように支払うのですか?

I don't quite understand how this kind of issues are even possible, and how the support these players are given does not seem very... well, supportive. It's frustrating to even me who is un-affected by this.

I'm sorry I can't really help with this, and I wish you all the best of luck and hope the company solves their issues...

Hi guys.

I just transfered my JP account and everything went smoothly ^^ I'm glad to announce to all us JP account holders living outside Japan that we are now able to continue playing without using Webmoney or having a JP Credit card simply by transfering our account from a Playonline account to a square-enix account ^^

Active Service Accounts
To perform actions regarding automatically continuous options such as characters, please click "Options List."
PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI 1 : IDXXXXXX [JP]

Thank you so much SE ^^

I can finally shutdown my website at www.ffxi-europe.com where i had a how-to guide showing people how to use webmoney for payment ^^

Thanks for posting that site, that is how i have been paying my bill ever since the whole US credit card debacle. Couldn't have done it without your site.

Any word on how people who have already linked SE accounts are supposed to do this? I really don't want to lose 9 years of progress over a Bad billing process. I don't recall ever being given the option to link my account to a NA Square Enix account, or i surely would have. Where am i supposed to get a Japanese address without actually living in Japan? Please help Q Q

Black Mage Viper,

Keep your site up, actually. Did you previously have your account connected to an SE account? I didn't see an option either to do so - I should've at least attempted it and now I'm kicking myself big time...

Le sigh.

Katoblepa,

On the bright side, my transfer with my JP POL acct to a JP SE acct went well. The process was DEAD easy - you could pretty much point and click through without any knowledge of Japanese, other than the point where they prompt you for your POL ID (which should autofill for those of us who already linked our accounts to get the tokens) and POL password.

To charge Crysta to your SE account, you go through all of the Webmoney steps as you did before on the Webmoney site. Locate Crystaのチャージ on the left panel, click that, and then choose your denomination of how much Crysta you want. The last option, WebMoneyの残高すべてをチャージ, allows you to transfer your remaining WebMoney balance and convert it to Crysta. Hit Next (次へ)and then you'll be prompted for your WebMoney code as normal.

I haven't used this forum much, apparently I can't send private messages ^^; Here is a possible JP address you could use, it is the address of the college I stayed at during my summer stay in Japan a number of years ago. You might need to translate it into kana/kanji, but I bet Google could do that for you.

I recall just skipping ahead, but that's from memory of two years ago. Point me to a screen of what you're referring to specifically?

Firesped, please e-mail me at maesusume. It's a gmail address. I'll be happy to help you out.

re: Snail mail - all I ever got while I was in Japan was an initial letter with my username and password, but that was only my first year on FF, through summer 2004. I never got anything when I installed expansions or the like.

Did you previously have your account connected to an SE account?

No.

- I've had an European SE account for a while now but never used it for anything except play FFXIV for a very short time.

- I only just yesterday linked my JP POL account to this EU SE account and did so without problems.

- I'm not entirely sure why people are talking of JP SE accounts? Unless we only talking about people who already long ago linked their JP POL account to a JP SE Account? is this the case?
- If so then i'm really not sure what you guys can do, except maybe hope for a response here on the forum from admins as to how you could possible get your POL account un-linked from a SE account so you can re-link it to a new one.

- If you haven't linked your JP POL account to any SE account yet, even if you have a JP SE Account ready, then just create a new US / EU SE account and use that to link with the JP POL account you have. Don't use a JP SE account if you can avoid it.

I'm tryin to transfer my Jp Pol Id to Se Id (already linked to SE account in before for satchel)
the system ask me an address.. I have to repeat the address used when I registered the account in 2003?
like most of you, I used some names found on a forum on that period... I have to use the same data to register a click and buy account? damn...

All I had to do to transfer my account from POL to SE account, was log in it through the SE-Account website, click "サービスの選択" (Service selection) at "サービス・オプション" group then select the appropriated option (Final Fantasy XI) at the Service selection screen.

My POL ID was already there, marked yellow and there were an button next to it to press for starting the conversion process. I never had to add extra information. It was already there, because I had it registered since 2009.

I then fund the account with WEBMONEY (Through SutoCorp, thanks for the guide, Blackmageviper. Please do not remove it as it still helps a lot), activated the contents, paid for them and am here posting as I re-activated.

I am not sure but I think SE account will bother you if it figures out that the address you gave it is invalid. It will ask for a new address.

the system FORCED ME to insert some personal data info IN JP (name in kanji, japanese address, etc.) before let me transfert the POL id ... I think WE ARE HEROES (our non-jp playing with jp accounts) because Square is always making things more difficult everytime... I think: I want play this game, I WANNA PAY ... please let me pay in some EASY way... no... anyway, I've made it... but I'm forced to keep using webmoney, because credit cards are still no available (non-jp cards)

has anyone figured out a way to get this to work for people who already had their accounts linked? I'm getting desperate. keep getting the response "This PlayOnline ID cannot be transferred. Please contact the Square Enix Support Center for further details." I don't speak Japanese. Why would they do this to people who have been loyal customers for almost 10 years?

Seriously, if anyone who works at SE is reading this, I know there are a lot of people that this is affecting. why the nonsense with regional billing? I know you know that some of your longest running customers are being constantly hurt by this. Can you please just allow us to unlink the accounts and link them to accounts in our region? I have put almost 9 years into this character, and payed you literally thousands of dollars and you are going to just cancel my account?

I've also been trying since this whole situation started up. I have North American and Japanese SEIDs, but my Japanese POL account is linked to my Japanese ID thanks to my insatiable urge to get a mog satchel last year. I've tried SE'S North American Support Center phoneline, but they couldn't do anything since my account is Japanese. I've tried e-mailing the Japanese support center, but it's been 4-5 days and I still haven't gotten a response. Things aren't looking good.

I waited 1.5 hours today for chat support and got d/c when i was finally up next to receive support. I then received a message saying that my session had ended and to try again later.

So I called NA support and waited another hour on hold to get a person. He proceeded too tell me that they have absolutely no contact with anything to do with JA accounts and that for all intents and purposes i might as well be playing a completely different game. He then told me he was sorry that they had basically cancelled my account as a reward for being one of their longest standing customers.

His only suggestion was that I go find someone who speaks Japanese and have them call Japanese support for me.

He said that SE was unaware that people were having any issues with SE accounts from japan. So i pointed him to this post which at this time has close to a thousand views and is the third most viewed post in the entire thread ( Clue ). I also pointed him towards Vipers site and explained that the issue was big enough to warrant an entire website dedicated to it.

The SE rep says that there haven't been any reports of this issue till now, but that he would link this thread in his report.

He says that perhaps if more people posted about the issue they would look into finding a solution. so post away.

Hey Blackmageviper, do you speak japanese? I am not having any luck getting my account transferred. I dont want to have to quit playing after all this time. Cant seem to find anyone who is able to get in touch of japanese support.

if devs are reading this.... I just want to pay my bill and get my account back. I'm not asking you to develop a new expansion for me. I can see by using google translate that people are reporting the same problem in the japanese forums and you guys are answering them. why the silence here? I know that its a mere click of a couple keys for you guys to fix this. I'm not asking you to go find a new 3rd party billing department like most of these other threads. i just want to be able to play the game again. all you have to do is allow my account to be linked to my SE account like you said you were going to.

Hi Frank

I have a Japanese account, and because of the security token I had part-linked it to a Japanese S-E account previously. Last week I completed the migration and I'm now happily paying for my service and able to log on as normal. I pay with Webmoney.

What exactly is happening when you try to migrate to the new S-E account system? Maybe we can figure out what's wrong if it's not something at S-E's end - which would definitely require speaking to their Japanese team, I'm afraid, though you might get lucky and find a bilingual staff member. If you do end up needing to contact S-E I'd recommend doing so by e-mail if possible just in case there's an English-speaking agent there who can help you.

I posted this problem weeks ago in the "JP techinical support" forum, when I figured out I can't buy more than July on POL, and the first things I obtained is one guy who ask for an investigation on me because in his opinion it's impossible that one player living outside JP, have to play with JP account, so sure I had bought my account in internet <.<"

I started to play in 2003 and there was only the JP version at that time... Yes, I was an "early adopter", an otaku fan that cannot wait 6 months for the NA version, so what? this can't be something to be guilty forever...

so WHY now I have to put some fake info in JP to pass by the form and let have my transfert? it's ridicolous... I completed my transfert process and now I'm playing, but it's ridicolous... and it's not finished, because I was thinking: now I charge A LOT of crysta, so I'm done for 2 years at least, in this case I CAN SURVIVE any new Square Enix ideas... but I can't, I can only charge 10.000 crysta, so it's not 1 entire year of play...

I hope someone can do something to show our problems to Square, a FB page?, dunno what, but something to let Square knows that we are here... we are here from at least 8 years... payed every single months from 8 years, bought every expansion... etc...

XIV is not making money at all, but XI still make money and still loved and played, and we are giving our money to Square from years, so Square have to make things more easy for us, we have to be rewarded for our loyalty, but Square is getting things more and more difficult to us, it's time to change this situation and it's time to solve this issue finally!

I completely agree that this whole situation is ridiculous, especially if (as I understand) players who hadn't linked their account were 'allowed' an account migration by choosing a EU/NA SE Account, while those who had previously linked theirs (with no choice of region back then) are now stuck with JP SE Accounts forever with no way of unlinking it.

SE, this is completely unfair. The most dedicated players who've been playing or for years, or those who happened to be living in Japan when they started the game, and swiftly made/linked an SE account will now be forced to stop playing when those who were lucky enough to only link their account recently got a way out of it. The former are denied any way to change their account's region or find other payment options...

Although I am not concerned by this issue, I have friends who are. I have bumped the thread in the JP discussion. Maybe getting more attention will help.

Xylia
08-08-2011, 11:33 PM
Wait wait wait. There is no need to dramatise things by saying that people are being "forced" to stop playing. That's not true, and incorrect information just confuses the issues that a few people are legitimately having figuring out how to migrate.

I linked my account before, and now I can pay exactly the same way I was paying a month ago, or two months ago - by Webmoney. It's not the most convenient method out there, but after importing the game and a broadband-capable PS2 to keep playing I am used to jumping through the occasional hoop for this hobby. The new S-E account method is actually a little bit easier for me as it means I can manage my account from any browser instead of needing my PS2 to hand.

Yes, it's unfortunate that if they had already linked the account, those who would have wanted to switch region now can't, but surely anyone who is now blocked from playing would have been equally blocked without the migration if they weren't willing to go with Webmoney when their card expired.

FrankReynolds

so you have an address in japan that you can use on your account? because it wont accept the one that been on my account since like 2003. there are players who are from different regions asking about this in the Japanese forums too. so far the official response has been to just refer them to old links that don't help. It seems really ridiculous for SE to act like everyone who has a account that is from a different region must have bought it. I mean has anyone seen a RMT since abbysea came out? I haven't.

I have literally dumped thousands of dollars into this company and they are basically calling me a thief now and cancelling my account. to add insult to injury , this thread has been and the top of the support forum for a week now and has almost 1300 views at this point, but the staff is still ignoring it.

They should be rewarding people who went the extra mile to buy their game before it was even released in my own country and showed support from the very beginning. I have had to buy copies of this game from crazy websites that nobody in their right mind would use, and pay almost double to do so. For the last several years I have had to enter my credit card number into some wonky form of a paypal site to buy credits for webmoney so that I can pay my bill at a mark up as well. They should be handing out relics to people that show that sort of dedication, instead I will probably end up boycotting all future products if something isn't done.

Sorry if I sound bitter, but this is a lot of crap to deal with knowing it can be fixed with a click of a button on SE's part and they are just ignoring it.

katoplepa
08-10-2011, 02:25 AM
I'm 100% agree with Frank Reynolds : SE have to reward us with a relic for our dedication to keep alive our accounts...
if you still have problem to pass by the JP form, and you want to survive this trap, you can contact me on ffxiah dotcom and I'll try to help you, if I can.. anyway, is a scandal that SE is ignoring this problem, and this is more true if we think about the fact that XIV is not making money at all, and SE must mantain the paying community of XI with more ease and some user friendly payement system... sometimes, it seems that they don't want our money, it's incredible...

Xylia
08-10-2011, 11:40 PM
Frank, if you are still having issues with the address and are otherwise willing to play, maybe you could screenshot the address part (hide everything else on the screen!) and your old address and send it to one of us here whose accounts are working, and we can read it and see if there is a mistake somewhere? It will only take a moment for one of who can read the language to spot an error and then you don't have to quit :)

I think they simply can not reply to this kind of (or any other really) matters here (or just wont, however you want to put it).

It's not exactly a technical issue, either, and they will likely close this thread sooner or later and direct everyone to the Account/Billing Support... which obviously is not helping.

And I am glad they haven't closed it, yet, since it seems there are some who have got it to work!

Not much to add really to it, but to suggest you to just try and try again to get the Support to do something. I'm sure they can, it's silly how they even have the nerve to say they can't do anything.

Anyways, good luck!

Update: Japanese support finally responded to my emails saying that NA support could in fact help me with this issue. I spoke with 4 different SE reps yesterday, and all of them said that there is Absolutely no way to link this account. When i asked why other people had been able to do it and why it was displayed on the official website...... they just hung up on me. Four friggin times. They literally just talked over me repeating " No, NO, NO, you cant do that!" Wtf kind of monkeys are you hiring down in Los Angeles SE?

I give up. I am just gonna trash the account. Thanks for the years and money wasted assholes. way to be.

I tried to link an old Japanese account I have (never been linked to any SE ID before) to my US SE ID and it gave me an error saying "try again later". As if they INTENTIONALLY put an artificial block to prevent JPN->NA account migration.

I took the same POL ID to my Japanese SE account and it was more than glad to take it in (I did not confirm the transaction), which serves as proof they're ACTUALLY BLOCKING linking of cross region accounts and services.

At this point in time, this thread has long passed any semblance of a technical issue. While some may feel that the difficulties they are experiencing with the SQUARE ENIX Account Management system are technical problems, they are not. As we have indicated previously, this forum is only for technical support issues, and any problems, concerns, or feedback regarding the account or billing systems should be directed to the SQUARE ENIX Support Center for your region. This can be found by visiting the PlayOnline website for your region, and clicking the icon for Service & Support.

Unfortunately, since this situation does not involve any technical trouble, we have had to lock the thread.
