View Full Version : Immediate Disconnect
Platform: Windows
Connection: Cable
Frequency: Always, every single attempt
Character: Bigwill, Phoenix server
Race: Elvaan
Job: Regardless of job, NIN Thf PLD and WAR tried
Area: Rally Point Green G-9
Party and solo attempts
This is for my friend Bigwill. We're trying to finish these missions together but we're stuck because every time he attempts this Cutscene he disconnects and gets booted from the server.
Attempting to get the cutscene from Rally Point Green from WotG mission 31 Prelude to a Storm, every attempt results in his disconnection. All he does is click on the Rally Point Green spot. He says that the screen goes black as if the Cutscene is loading but then nothing happens and he's disconnected immediately.

Greetings, Riz!
Thank you for taking the time to post your friend's concerns with their disconnection trouble during cutscenes. Since this issue seems to be more of technical concern, I have made sure to move this thread from "In-Game Bugs" to "Technical Support" to ensure that your friend's situation is reviewed properly. In addition, although we do greatly appreciate you taking the time to help you friend out, it would be best if your friend directly created their own threads about any concerns that they may be experiencing with the game, so that we may be able to directly ask for any information that we may need in the investigation. Thanks again for your report!

You could try guesting on his account so he can be logged on from a different IP address, then try and move his character through the CS.

And here we go again, moved to Tech Support, the Official Forum's Dead Zone.

Do note that logging in with another individual's account or providing the info to do so to someone else is a violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement (not saying that this is exactly what Octaviane is suggesting but it could very well seem like that). ^^;
Aside from that, the suggestion is still valid. Logging in on a different machine could be the solution, though not the fix. It could well be due to a corrupt file or files that the issue exists, so running the file-check would be something to try unless it already has been.
If that doesn't help, it could be a problem with the hard-drive itself having bad sectors at that area which the file-check might not be able to notice.
It could be just a connection error to the specific server(s) as well and those cases can be particularly difficult to confirm and solve.
In the end, these are just personal experiences and thoughts, nothing official obviously.
For further trouble-shooting the issue, it might or might not be helpful to add if the "kick" only takes the player to the character selection screen, or if the connection is lost to the lobby and PlayOnline server as well (meaning the need to log in to PlayOnline again).
Just some thoughts!

Considering I was told to do this by a Customer Service Rep at the beginning of the year when I couldn't progress through a Windurst Mission CS and seeing that other players have reported doing the same in these Forums, I think as long as you trust the person guesting, you should be fine.
I also did everything else the rep advised me to do, file checks, re-install, porting all to no avail before he arrived at the solution of guesting.

I'm having a similar type of problem (I'll go over the slight differences below), so I'm hoping I can get a response on this thread.
OS: Windows
Connection type: Cable
Router: D-Link
ISP: Cox
I have been back to playing FFXI for the last 2 weeks at a different residence. Today, I packed up my PC and set it up again in another city about 20-25 mins away. Around 2-3 minutes after I log in I get either an error code 3001 or error code 4001, regardless of if I'm in the Playonline launcher or logged into my character. I haven't had any types of connection issues on any other website or game since setting it up, just PoL and FFXI.
The ISP is the same as the other residence as well, so I'm completely bamboozled.
Could it be just the router? Should I even bother attempting to forward ports?
EDIT:
Never mind, it seems to be working now. I ended up resetting the router 3 times, flushing the dns, and forwarding ports before it finally did it though...

That does seem peculiar indeed.
I find it hard to believe a Customer Support member would ever suggest that. If I had to quess, I'd say they meant indeed using another machine and not to actually share your account credentials to someone else to do it. I was not there, obviously, so I can't know for sure. ^^
Either way, whatever they told you, it does not change the fact that it is indeed a violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

And yes, generally players think there is nothing wrong in account-sharing, giving their un-used account to a friend, and the likes and I guess SqEX does not have a problem with it either from the looks of it, but I would always suggest against inciting to rule-violation. I basically registered to this forum just to say this because no one else does and I was worried about people getting punished for something they clearly thought was OK. >.>;
But that is that and this is this, let us not take it more off-topic shall we? Time for a cup of coffee or tea (or both) with the sun rising here.
These are just my thoughts anyways~

I can absolutely assure you that I was instructed to do just that by a Customer Service Rep when I called. It took 2 days of calls actually to get the resolution. So, since you weren't there and since I am not given to bending or stretching the truth to suit my own convenience, I would say that their own Customer Service Rep's are the ones in violation of the ToS. :)
Being unable to progress through a CS for whatever reason is something that SE and Tech Support have been aware of for years and whilst it might not be within their power to fix it, since every platform is different yet experiences the same issues, there have to be ways to get around them. This is one of them.
The ToS is violated everyday by a small % of players to a far greater degree than guesting. On occasion, a player might get banned if the violation is bad enough and if it has been witnessed, reported and verified. I would venture that guesting once for a few moments is not high on the priority list for banning a player.
You might also want to consider taking your opinion to the General Discussion Forum.
