Underwater fighting seems silly but this is a fantasy game. Fighting Shinryu in space is not much far off from underwater fighting. Beach zones wont be effected in this but hole new zones underwater and deep in the sea. Some magical keyitem letting players breath underwater for long periods perhaps.
Now walking on the surface of the sea floor fighting all sorts of sea monsters. Sounds like fun right? Blury weather & vision. This is what i expected in a endgame final fantasy way when I completed salvage or Nyrule. Thought Visions of Abyssea was post to have this but i was disapointed again.
Please add new endgame or new area thats based Underwater. Im not asking for a Swim option just a Underwater area.

Blitzball?
^So would squeal in a high pitched tone i would shatter windows if that was added....
Oddly enough the other night I was joking with some ls mates on vent. Years ago when I first completed COP I was all excited about Lumoria(Sea) only to find out you can't swim there :(
So yes, underwater battles would be a nice addition to spice up battles as well as maybe air battles(like fighting when falling down from the sky)

I already freak out having the UFO's drop down on my head in sea, if it were the same situation actually underwater you'd be able to hear me screaming like a little girl from a few rooms away. lol
I think it is an interesting concept, I'm for any new in game content / zones

the engine doesn't have any kind of system or support for volumes of water. Even if you're a tarutaru fully submerged in a pond, it doesn't affect physics or anything in any way.

No added physics or even float or swim just ground walking based gameplay.

You're pronouncing Abyssea terribly wrong.

MOTHER OF GOD.
I lol'd way harder than I should have at that XD.
Blitzball would be fun if they could implement it. Though honestly I doubt it will ever happen.

A few years ago in Valkurm Dunes, there used to be a glitch in the game allowing players to walk into the ocean on the far east side of Siren beach (in the trees near the Swirling Vortex) and come out in the surf area just in front of the boat, freaking out low-level parties camping there. Reinstate that to other areas and add mobs you can attack.

Would be silly and illogical unless everyone had the Iron Boots from Zelda, and it would also eliminate any appeal of being in the water.

Didn't WoW just release an expansion that involves an underwater zone? -_-
Im against this idea for one reason, however irrational it may be, i have an extreme fear of water in video games. Especially enemies underwater. (remember the giant eel in mario64?) Mostly though if they gave us a water zone we would all just have to hear about how FFXI is even more like WoW now, so no thanks.

underwater fighting? sounds interesting and different from what we already have

Ah, that explains why someone would make such an illogical suggestion.

Didn't WoW just release an expansion that involves an underwater zone? -_-WoW has always had underwater stuff. The base game has some sort of temple that's partially submerged in a swamp. It's not exactly a new thing.

It's not like Final Fantasy haven't had underwater battles way before WoW was even thought of. FF5, FF6, FF7 and FF10 all have underwater fighting

Omg, I was so hoping to find a forum stating this. I would LOVE to fight underwater. And the idea of Air free falling battles, I'd love too.
Also, I am scared of heights in RL, yet I go to Sky....yes, it freaks me out...but over all, the joy of gaming outweighs my fear. lol
And I agree...if this had a Rate Up option I'd......

So it doesn't exist on PC. This is totally unfair and unacceptable!

When I first came to FFxi, I was disapointed by the lack of underwater adventures. I'm a old PS2 player and prior to FFXi, i played EQOA. IN EQOA you could swim and enage underwater monsters, FFXi was more advanced then EQOA in all ways except that 1.
I still hope for changes like this, but I am unsure how much longer we have as a game - I believe FFXI was to end and 14 meant to take over - it just a matter of time. But until then - HADES forever!!!!!!!
Blitzball would be awsome.. I loved that game in FFX FFX2 it was lacking with the ability to control the team though .. awsome having 2 partys going head to head.. the techniques could be based off the job Venom pass would be RDM Drain kick could be a BLM/DRK thing ect ect.. PLD goalie?
how do i cast fire underwater???

FF9 had that small section near the end of the game which was underwater. But if you didn't perceive it was underwater, you wouldn't drown, which Quina nearly did. I think there was some secret boss there too, if your play time was under a certain amount. All it amounts to is the same gameplay with underwater window dressing. They won't add actual gameplay mechanic changes if they did something like this.
