Hi everyone.
I already sent an inquiry in to POL but I figured I would post here too see if anybody had my problem.
Anyway, I've been having problems logging into the game. I can usually get through playonline and the startup screen but once I log in, no matter what I do.. my camera WON'T stop spinning. I click my mouse, drag it, etc. and it still won't budge. It's really frustrating.
About 2-3 minutes of being logged in(camera still spinning), I get disconnected with error codes, 4002 and 2059
I've tried opening ports, restarting my computer, reloading my drivers, etc. Is there anything else I should try? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like your mouse cursor is stuck on the edge of the screen, which causes the spinning. Does the problem still occur if you turn off or disconnect the mouse?

I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but my camera will start turning, character also starts running and the only way to stop is to heal(sometimes). I did notice that just before this all starts, I get a notice from my taskbar that "New software for Xbox controller is now ready to use"... When I log off the game, restart, it still happens. The only way I found to stop it was to do a restore, back a couple of hours or so.
I think I finally what happened is the USB connector on the controller starts to get a little loose in it's socket, and when it "re-seats" it self from moving around(me), the laptop sees it as new hardware..It's irritating, and sometimes it's bad, like doing a zone clear and it happens at the last second(try to keep from being killed by Sippoy when this happened once!).
As I travel a lot, I take my laptop with me so I have something to do in the hotel(tv usually sucks) when not working, and of course the controller, mouse all get connected/disconnected a lot. Looks like I might be getting new controller soon though, anybody know well how the wireless controllers work, I could leave the receiver plugged in the USB most of the time then.

my boyfriend had the camera spinning issue yesterday after the update before the emergancy maintenance. It's not the mouse, he turns it off when he plays. All he had to do to stop it was hit one of the arrow keys to move the camera, but it was still really annoying.
I've had the issue where my character starts running around in circles and most times I have to force a disconnection to fix it (trying to shut down using the menu doesn't work, cause I can't stop the menu from scrolling to actually pick "shut down"). I've had this issue happen on and off for a couple years now...all I've ever been told is to shut down and restart. It's kinda strange too, cause we have 3 characters and it's only my main that has the running issue, even on a different computer.

I had this issue happen again just yesterday, even while I was sitting in Jeuno trying to bazaar some stuff. I wasn't touching the keyboard or the mouse, and all of a sudden the camera started spinning. I've only had this issue on my laptops that have Windows 7 on them. My desktop with Windows XP hasn't had this issue yet.

i have this problem every now and then but mine is caused by the fact i use a controller and every now and then i have to unplug/replungin the controller so it can reset all the settings
this is how i fix this problem:
1. Shutdown FFXI
2. Unplug Controller
3. Restart PC
4. plug in controller
5. run controller test through control panel
these are all in classic view
"in XP go to Game Controllers"
"in windows vista go to Game Controllers"
"in windows 7 go to Devices and Printers"
6. Restart FFXI and enjoy
