Just some random thoughts about abilitys on SMN and Avatars. While i do think current avatars such as Garuda and co neext lvl 95-99 damage pacts or actual useful pacts ( not like crimson roar...), i also think that given the fact that we are not 75 anymore Odin and Alexander need to be reconsidered even more.

This would also rule out the implemention of a new avatar for the moment if the existing ones would get more useful.

Current thoughts are

Blood Boon: Increase the activation with each merit by 2% to a total of 10% increase.

Celestial Pact: Allows to unfold the true nature of your Celestial Avatars ( aka Odin/Alexander).

While i still think Zantezuken and Perfect defense should stay 2 hour abilitys i also think that Odin and Alexander have way more uses than just as a 2hour trump card.

As stated above the Celestial Pact would have 5 upgrades as usual merits. Stage 1 enables the summon of the avatar plus the use of a typical 1 min BP. for example:

Alexander: lvl 91 Celestial Wall: SToneskin + phalanx effect to party members within range.
Odin: lvl 91 Ofnir : medium single target attack additional chance of paralyze.

each subsequent merit until its maximum would unlock 1 new Bloodpact giving the avatars a total of 6 Bloodpacts ( including 2h)

of course there are numerous BP that would make sense for both avatars from previous FF games for example

Alexander: Divine Judgment (magical attack light) heavy single target damage.

im sure there are many more possible suggestions. after all thease are just some thoughts.

I think the least we should get is a pact charge merit category.

2-6 charges, depending on 1 to 5 merits. Charges are a terrible solution and we need real pact splitting into more categories. But from merits you can only expect band aid fixes at most, and not actual solutions.

At least with charges we could do 6 fast pacts without any issues.

Another reasonable merit category would be "spirit quick magic", where you could dump up to 5 merits and get 50% chance at instant spells from spirits. While they still would cast junk and be random, at least good spells would come seemingly instantly when they do come.

Again, band aid fixes, but I don't expect anything else from a merit category. I do however envy PUP merit categories that were "acc/att" or "macc/mab" while we had it on 4 categories.

I'd like to see some sort of merit trait that allows the Avatar to make use of our gear bonuses. Since we share a lot of armor with blms, the MAB gear would be great for avatars. Perhaps 1 merit gives 20% of total gear bonuses while 5 merits gives a 100% stat transfer to the pet. It's true with Empyerean armor we don't really "need" it, but not everyone (including myself) has access to +2 gear. This trait would be great for those of us who also have blm/rdm lvd, Can swap in, say, Twilight cloak for +15mab, or something, just to give avatars that edge they've always needed. (my main is Drg and even though my lil Wyvern may not be an uber DD he is a hell of a lot better when equipped with a subjob, food and gear that enhances his overall effects.)

Even if this sorta overpowers them, and lets say they outdamage average blm's 90% of the time...I think its ok. These are Magical Avatars after all, whose to say they shouldn't be stronger than we puny mortals.
