I just went to Abyssea-Altep for some Mandy Kills for Trial 1659 (fire staff TotM) and I linked about 30 mandies together, put up Mana Wall, pop'd a Fanatics Tonic, and proceeded to nuke them down, only sleeping for recast timers.

Managed to get more than half of them dead, the other half at a sliver of life left when Fanatics wore, Mana Wall went out, couldn't get a sleepga to hit (even had Stoneskin and Aquaveil up as protection) and died to about 10 mandies whacking on me.

What's your story?

Not done anything crazy, sadly. Whenever partying with my NIN I always warp out on the last mob with Mijin Gakure.

I DC'd in the middle of loads of diremites, so logging back on was suicide, I had RR up, but it was no use.

Hmm...perhaps I should go try something wacky...er...perhaps a stand off against a load of Idle Wanderers. I know when helping with the Promyvion missions, my group just ran into a horde - thankfully I was the sensible one and didn't die and our WHM died in a sensible place, I was DRK, so I tractored everybody away and afters the White Mage raised them. The stupid mistake turned seemed to work out for the better. The only time I've ever made use of Tractor. It's odd, you'd think the DRK would be the suicidal one, but I guess I should start listening to emo music first, like My Chemical Toilet and Bring Me the Hair Straighteners.

2 memorable deaths:

2005: Joined a Dunes pt. Aggroed gob otw to camp (the beach near VE). Somehow lost him, or so I thought.. I got to camp, we buffed and started to party it up on crabs. 3-4 minutes later, a lag-inducing train of goblins flew in like a bat out of hell and proceeded to do naughty and painful things to my whole pt. Track by scent was something to be a bit more feared back then?

2011: I shouted "FREEDOM" and ran through a group of mobs in Dynamis-Bubu as BLM with Manawall up. Seconds before dying, I popped a papillion, used my BLM job emote, ran to the edge of a cliff and did /sit.

The final blow caused me to stand up, fall face down SUPER fast, body partially suspended in mid-air, but it was ok: I had dual wings keeping me afloat.

In Dragon's Aery, a NIN Mijin'd some darters after Fafnir was killed. Since they're ally hate, they proceeded to link and rape the remainder of that ally.

I don't have any really interesting deaths. :(

In old Dynamis, I loved seeing how many mobs I could hit with a single -aga3 nuke, or on THF, I'd pop Flee and try to link as many remaining mobs as possible. If there was a group outside waiting, I dropped glass before my goofing off. Otherwise, I nuke balls or Flee, depending on my job, and see how long I could survive.

I'm sure thousands or tens of thousands of players have done the exact same thing over the years.

Not happened to me, but my friend. Back when Swift Belt was kinda a pain in the ass to get, he went into the room without sneak (oopsie) to check if he could pop it. Came back but died halfway out the door and it closed on his legs.

I've also killed a salvage group by aggroing multiple lamia. They were huge d-bags though so it was worth it.

We glitched in Dynamis once and half of our Alliance vanished on screen so we eneded up being stuck underneath the Ah in Dyna-Jeuno... Me and another player decided to race through the mobs (before it changed) and see who could win.. We both died spectacularly :D i even has pictures :)

I have met and attempted to solo Absolute Virtue. To my surprise, I died in two hits. Also done the same thing to Cerberus, Vrtra, and Jormungand.

Getting hate from Dark Ixion on RDM in Rolanberry Fields when we were fighting it near one of the walls, It running up the stairs to the 2nd level to do an acharon kick that hit me so hard that not only did it one shot me but my body flew off the ledge and landed on the ground dead.

Way back before the sentinel buff, when people brought PLDs to dynamis, a Kindred MNK HF'd and had hate on someone in my pt so naturally, I cover'd him. Of course, Hundred Fists does A LOT of dmg so I was soon face down in the snow. Having made myself a taru sacrifice there was only one possible outcome, RDM Hat!

Yeah, I have made some spectacular suicides when we were together for a long time.

Linking every Yag in Castle O, Aggroing the death house in Dynamis - Windy, (back when the level cap was 40 for Riverine A01) sleep/aggro every hippogriff possible. Most of which was intentional, although there were a couple accidental suicides mixed in there.

Not mine but when my friend was helping 2 other of my friends do the headstone ZM mission. He told one of them to to go hit the ash dragon as a joke thinking he would know better. He didn't so as my friend was running to the ash dragon my other friend kicked him out the party and told him to die in a safe spot as they ran past the dragon.

Dynamis - Buburimu, almost 3 years ago, Armada LS was doing a Dynamis Buburimu run, and one of the THF pulling linked a whole lot of mobs, so I had to pull for him while he was running around in circle, kiting mobs. Slowly but surely, the mobs were linking with other mobs, and at one point, he died near where I am, and I got hate from all the mobs, somehow.

I spent the next 15 minutes kiting while he pulled,and it got to the point where pretty much half the mobs in the zone were linked, including all of goblins, orcs, and Quadavs. We hit the 3 minutes warning, and there weren't much for the drops. So, near the end, I ran close to the alliance, not knowing where they were exactly, while trying to kite, then I got slept by a random dream flower from nightmare mandragoras that they were fighting.

The next 30 seconds? let's just say I've never seen a Dynamis dual alliance wipe so fast in my life.I think we wiped in a record of 2 seconds.

I like it when I try to death warp in abyssea, and as I hit "Enter" to go back to my home point the "Reraise" option from Atma of the Apocalypse comes up... and I reraise and need to die all over again.

The entire party wiped itself out and I was at the back as a RDM.

They go down, I draw my sword, charge and declare "IT'S ALL UP TO ME!"

.... He had about 40% health left..

... Yup.

Haha, we did the exact same thing - people in my LS decided to do Campaign battle and spotted him, took him on and we were winning until...well, he sends us to Everbloom Hollow to have King Arthro rape us.

Lol at my previous post getting deleted... can't say I didn't have it coming! Anyway, I have another story... this one isn't a suicide, but one that damn well was almost one. I was a newbie leveling in a dunes party when one of my party members is kinda close to me. I thought nothing of it, did a little enhancing skillups (forget if I was on whm or rdm at the time), and then hit my rest macro... which macros in a pilgrim tunica and pilgrim wand. Turns out this other member had me on /follow, and when I blinked they took off across the dunes like a rocket. Feeling a little guilty, I tagged along after them. What I saw was the greatest accomplishment of dumb luck, as they ran straight into the middle of a camp of IT goblins. I stopped, thinking the newbie was toast... only to see all the goblins turn the other way. They came back 5 minutes later, still alive.

Back in '05 on Diabolos a whole bunch of end game shells got together to try to kill Vrtra (back when it was a huge deal) I think there were something like 200 people (I didn't actually count, but there were a LOT of dead bodies). Gotta say that was one of the best suicides I ever committed... running down into the cave with skeles and a giant dragon, over dead bodies...

My next most awesome suicide was when I discovered Attohwa Chasm for the first time back when Tiamat was first put int he game. I had NO idea there was a giant orange dragon in the game and thought he was the coolest thing ever... until he was suddenly eating my face out of no where. I was seeing orange for a week.
