View Full Version : How awesome would it be to one-hit kill "Too weak" undead mobs with raise?

Seriously. If our healing magic is high enough, and the undead monster is "too weak," there's no reason raise shouldn't put it out of its misery.

What do you other WHMs think?

Didn't that only work in one FF ever?

You wouldn't because, it would count as a death spell and nuke is synonym with damage.

Would too! cuz I could just calculate the damage as infinite damage in this situation, not instant death, therefore I'd beat those goofy blms! u cannot crush my dreams of a whm out-nuking a blm muahahahaha! (totally kidding btw lol)

Would be extremely handy for PLs in Qufim Island when the party gets ghost aggro. ^_^

I don't understand, Madine.

Anyway, so how about that Raise KOing Undead, SE? Cure seemed OP there for a little bit... lol

You are a disgrace to all final fantasy fans. You have always been able to throw pheonix downs on undead bosses (FF7, FF9, FF10, FF3, FF4, FF5). However, i think the spell Life only did dmg, whereas pheonix down actually 1 shot. Im not sure why it would do that since Life is still a Res technically.

I don't think a "killer spell" against undead us the answer. However, a more balanced approach would be slightly buff the potency of using cure/holy type spells against undead. This buff, specifically under a WHM and/or paladin trait would make these job even more effective against undead.

I don't think it would be unbalanced if it were allowed just on mobs that con too weak. Most other jobs can one-shot these anyway. This would give WHM a chance to do that for fun just on crap that doesn't matter, and I'm all for it. Maybe make only Raise III capable of doing this, both so WHM is the only job that can, and so we have to wait on the recast timer to do it for multiple mobs rather than making use of Raise I and II.

I also think it's hilarious that the 99999 glitch popped up just after this thread started.

The difference between the two was that the Down was an item, and therefore had perfect accuracy. Spells do not, so Life (or Raise) was usually not an effective way of one shot killing a boss since they traditionally have ridiculous magic resistance. You could also one shot the Abaddon in FF8 with a Phoenix Down, not sure if that was the only boss like that though.

Being able to use Raise as an offensive spell on undead sounds interesting, but SE seems deathly afraid of adjusting old spells and abilities, especially if it only benefits one job (or two) and opens up lots of potential for literally rivers of tears from people doing what they do best: being jerks. Unfortunately, this is why we can't have nice things, but our hammers work well enough for beating up skeletons.
