From the site:

*1 [ Regarding Gil Prizes ]

The amount of gil awarded for each rank will be determined by first taking a percentage value (listed below) of the proceeds of marble sales in all worlds, then further dividing the resultant figure by the total number of winners representing each rank.

Rank 1 → 50%
Rank 2 → 23%
Rank 3 → 27%

---

How it is that rank 3 gets a higher % then rank 2 0.o

Fewer people will win Rank2, so larger individual prizes? I don't really know.

Rie is correct. The percentages are as they should be.

Winning numbers can be expected to increase by a factor of 10 with each decreasing rank, so think of it this way:

~100 ÷ 50%
~1000 ÷ 23%
~10000 ÷ 27%

The 50/23/27/--/-- ratio has been in use since the 2nd Mog Bonanza. (This first bonanza used 100M/10M/1M/100k/--, which likely injected gil into the game, rather then remove.)

The previous mog bonanza had the following gil rewards:

Based on the proceeds of total marbles sold (11,708,254,000 gil), the gil prize for each prize rank has been calculated as follows:

Rank 1 Prize: (11,708,254,000 X 50%) ÷ 58 = 100,933,225
Rank 2 Prize: (11,708,254,000 X 23%) ÷ 633 = 4,254,184
Rank 3 Prize: (11,708,254,000 X 27%) ÷ 5,857 = 539,736

I don't think that the first Mog Bonanza actually injected gil in to the economy. Even if the potential rewards allotted actually exceeded the Bonanza revenue, it could have only potentially injected gil in to the economy if a massive number of people actually went for the gil prize. (Personally I won Rank 4 in that Bonanza, and I chose to get a Behemoth Hide because it yielded me 300k on the Auction House, all of that being circulated gil.)

So, even though it didn't likely happen, the fact remains that it was still a possibility. Thus why they changed it upon subsequent Bonanzas.

And yeah, when I first saw that 50/23/27 ratio on the second Mog Bonanza, I did a double-take at first, too, but then I was reminded that there will be more people to divide the prize money among in Rank 3 than in Rank 2 (and of course the Rank 1 prize has to be something absolutely magnificent in comparison, anyway).

Greetings, Godofgods!

The percentages are certainly unusual at first glance. However, they are correct according to the past few bonanzas. However, I will move this thread to the general discussion thread, in case you would like to discuss possible changes to the distribution.
