View Full Version : [To ComRep/Dev] Enmity reducing Ability? Can i have it?
As Thief is a stong DD in most cases and can steal Party members hate to maintain a decent Hate balance in the PT.
But in the same time acts as a DD (Meele and WS Dmg) you will pull hate at some Point and thats the Point where you are virtually are unable to use Sneak Attack, its totally bugging me!
Could Thief get some Ability that erases your hate entirely?
Or just alternate 'Hide' so that it works 100% on any Mob. And lower its recast timer?
Its superannoying to use Collaborator to help a mage out but you get hate which you cant get rid off and get forced to Tank and can't use SA anylonger...
I can't be sneaky with this broken hate system :o
So i would like to DD and Manage Party enmity .... its not Possible anymore ; ;

I strongly disagree that thief should get another hate shedding ability (hide is hate shedding - just limited to the class of mobs it works on). If you want to move hate around, thief already has many skills for doing so. If you don't want the mob's attention, just TAWS onto someone else. Problem solved!
There are other jobs, notably ranger, that need a hate shedding ability ala super jump much more than thief.

I personally see no benfit in mentioning that. So i TA and? The Mob is still hitting me after a 2-4k TA only trough my Meele dmg output lol.
That happens inside and outside of Atma related zones, if the Tank is like a Nin or Mnk the mob might start spinning around like it was totally sick no way to use SA what-so-ever!
Thf needs a way to do their Job and its not tanking!

I tank all the time. Most thf's would probably disagree with your statement.
Part of the thf job is about manipulating hate. If you can draw the hate to yourself and away from vulnerable party members, the hate is then focused on one of the jobs best able to deal with it due to our incredible evasion. I see that as a fair trade. If you just want to do damage, then maybe another job is best -or- just don't use collaborator.
If you can do a 4K trick attack and still keep hate then I wouldn't worry about the lack of further damage from missing a SA or two. Either that or find yourself a different tank! (lol)

I personally find no merit in this type of ability and would be sorely disappointed if we got a tweak to THF and i saw something like this.
Thief is one of the few jobs in this game that can get hate and actually survive a few hits without being a giant MP sink due to their evasion. The last thing i need is to have a THF Get hate and shed it and it go eat some mages face when the THF could have survived long enough to reestablish hate.
The idea was decent in theory, I simply do not feel i would like this type of update. I'm rather tired of THF getting a bunch of enmity traits, at least Collab/accompl help me tank, Last thing i need is an ability that I'll use maybe 1% of any situation i can name.
I may be biased because I'm a good THF, and generally I tank for my low man group, and i know if i get hate in other scenarios my evasion is enough to keep me alive.
So i must respectfully disagree. I'm sorry.
Edit: However to the above poster, While a 4k TAWS would do wonders at the beginning of a fight, once you both hit the Enmity cap it wouldn't matter :\, as hate would simply bounce back and forth.

This precisely. Even if yet another enmity tweaking ability was given to thieves, your hate would very easily climb back up over time. Give me 30 seconds tops on any mob after avoiding any contact with a NM at all, and enough enmity would be generated in that instant where I could be tanking. You can spam TA all day but realistically the way things work you are still building some enmity from using it the moment you engaged your target.
If you're fighting with other DD or a tank present, just let them hit the mob till it turns then use SA. The hate system is not that complicated.

Enmity bouncing back and forth between characters at capped enmity is a good thing. You get hit, lose enmity, the mob turns, you recast shadows, SA, rinse and repeat.
