inb4 he locks the thread because someone disagrees with him.
Also this idea is something the Community would be better at implementing, not something the Devs should focus on. especially considering the profanity that happens on open channels like that... could be bad?

If this was a pay to use feature, i'm sure a site like FFXIAH could do it. >_>

FFXIAH supports players who hack, so I'm sure they could work up something.

I closed my last two topics because the first was nothing any more other than the same old, same old. Same argument same resolution same everything with the counterpoint being belittling comments towards my intelligence; as if they have any recognition of that, themselves. The second topic I closed because I'd gotten an answer from the devs; and again it was nothing but belittling comments towards my intelligence.
As topic creator, I reserve the right (on the Internet, no less!) to close my own topics whenever I feel like, and for whatever reason. You have nothing more than ignorant speculation to contribute - I ask that you cease your posting if you have nothing better to say. You can disagree with me, I don't care. But when you throw the personal remarks in there, I lose respect for you and the argument you're presenting.

How do they support players that hack? lol Any links or threads to 3rd party hacks are deleted.

I'm sorry if you feel my posts disagree with you and pointing out you close threads when you don't like where the topic is going is "ignorant speculation".
Fact is, just as much as its your "right" to close a thread at the slightest sign of a derail away from your OP, I have the right to come here and cast my opinion on the topic at hand.
Negative or positive. The way i see it, if a bad thread gets locked because the OP is angry someone doesn't like his idea, that just keeps it dead in the bottom of the forum incapable of being bumped.
....This isn't a terrible idea. But Its a waste of Developer time. This would be something a community like FFXIAH would be better at implementing as it wouldn't take away from DEV production time. Sorry if this is "ignorant speculation". Admitting the idea isn't terrible, but it feels more like a community project not a DEV project.
Being able to see shouts for events without having to sit in that lag zone is more or less a convenient Idea. again, just more of a community project...

Actually, I had made this topic with the intention of locating any possible resources that could provide me with this kind of service. However, SE really shuns on 3rd party involvement, so I didn't want to make it an outright topic. And I should have also implied that it was not directed at the developers as something I'd want THEM to implement. Because really, it is a community project.
Just stating that for clarification. You hold no point that I disagree with in other matters; but I have my reasons for closing my topics, and you have yours for posting.

I think i've seen a few times them mentioning/using FFXIAH.com.
Something like this might actually be easier for a player to do than a dev, Then again, they have the "in-game Camera" thing on their Playonline, One stands to logic they could convert game chat to a viewable online format to see interesting shouts.
There could be lag between though. Not to mention sometimes bad language happens there, I'd imagine if it was an Official thing they'd have to do a lot of butt-covering in order to get it cleared to go.
Wonder if theres even enough interest in FFXI from groups like those who created FFXIAH and Guildwork to do something like this? hmmmm

It can't be -that- difficult. I heard of a script one time that could monitor your entire chat window while you were AFK, it acted as an application on your smart phone, and you could read the chat in real-time and send messages, so that it didn't look like you were AFK. Quite clearly one of the more advanced techniques out there, but I've never seen nor confirmed its existence.

They already have a chat filter made that they could use (the one that comes with the game), so language could be somewhat controlled for. They also obviously have all the chat, because it hits their servers before you see it. This is just one of those things where it comes down to, "Should we tell Joe the Programmer to add new content or make a web ap to display shout data from the zone that's currently most active?"
