I see there are many posts about suggestions to make the game better or more user friendly, but it would be nice to put them all under one area for the dev team to be able to get some ideas. I will start this with a couple of things I thought would make the game better.
- Experience Rings need to show remaining length they will be active.
How many times have you been in a party and people want to log off and you just want to finish up your ring?? Happens all the time, so why not put how much longer your ring will be active. I'm talking time and xp left on the dedication effect.

Another suggestion:
- Character learned spell list should contain the level of the spell directly to the right of the name of the spell.
This would make creating macros for level synch parties easier. You would be able to see what spells you currently would have available at the level you are partying in and spells that you would be able to use when you gain a level. Learned spells should also be sortable by level and alphabetically.

gonna beat a dead horse.
12 lines for macros! (come on SE the RMT market is almost dead now, give us our macro lines)
Buff and Debuff durations on icons.
Ability to see party/alliance tp levels
Buff and Debuff icons under mob name
personal recipe list based off of items you've successfully crafted

Macro sharing. I've wanted this for years. I have a LOT of friends that all wanted help with macros. Instead of sitting there for hours telling them how to make macros, it's easier for me to log on to their account, set the macros, save server side, tell my friend I'm done.
Not everyone feels comfortable about sharing account information like that. My friends trust me completely. But would a noob to this game feel the same?
Not to mention, my main job is WHM and I have some really nice macros set up, it'd be nice if I could show some beginner WHM's how I do things. It may or may not help others, but I'd like to be able to share macros. All the way from individual macros to whole books (including book names). I've got a macro set for every job, it'd be nice to share my hard work with others.
Side note, please excuse any typos and mistakes. This site ROYALLY SUCKS on the iPhone. Glitchy, laggy, buggy, plus more.

1. Have our comments stay on even after logging, like the bazaar ones do.
2. Pressing F7-F12 to select peaple in the other group of a full allience.
3. Redue the mob locations of the new high level mobs where they dont get in the way of low level questing and old xp camps,
like the one in crawlers nest.
4. Add music to valkurn dunes.... most areas near cities have music why not that one?
5. Have contaners like in 14 where NPC's bazaar your stuff, so we can log and not leave our computers and systems on 24/7. Save on electric and heating heh my pc keeps my room warm expecially in the summer.
Side not about retainers, maybe to balence it only have those npc's bazaring w/e you are not ingame.

Unfortunately, some definitely would. However the "noob", or your friends, should not as it is not only a security hazard, it is also a violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement. ^^;
Generally the players seem to be utterly oblivious about this little existing fact and oft look at me in a weird fashion should I inform them about it.
I especially wish people didn't give the impression that it is OK to a "noob", or to anyone else, even with good intentions in mind as it could easily lead the player lose their account and/or in-game items completely to a not so well meaning player. Not even SqEX staff will ever need to ask for this info, and if one were to encounter such a request, it would most definitely be with a malicious intent.
That aside, sharing macro sets via the PlayOnline viewer could be useful to many a player, but if it would be actually feasible to implement is another story, technical restrictions and such considered.
I was going to write more, including some of my own thoughts that I think would fit under this thread's title, but it would seem I'm out of time, fer now.

Add support for player-created addons (or plugins, or widgets, or whatever else you want to call them -- it's all the same thing).
If FFXI had official support for player-created addons, then we could all have exactly what we wanted from the interface, and would no longer have to ask SE and hope they implement what we want (which, historically, has been shown not to happen a whole lot).
