I decided to have some fun and level a mule. While trying to gain Bastok fame 3, I became extremely frustrated getting stuck at various and sundry NPC's to even obtain fame quests. I chose not to take the easy route and trade Millioncorn, Cabbages and Moss to Melyon in Selbina.


Platform: PS2

ISP: Comcast

Type of Internet Connection: Xfinity High Speed Internet

Internet Connection Speed: 2.49Mbps

Date & Time: Sunday June 19, all day. Monday June 20 beginning at 9:00 am MDT

Frequency: Almost always 8/10 is a good measure of frequency

Character Name: Marshallin

Race: Mithra (most definitely female :))

World: Sylph

Main Job: THF level 18

Support Job: MNK

Area and Coordinates: All Bastok Zones

Party or Solo: Solo

NPC Name: Flaco (Fame NPC) and all NPC's associated with quests. Gwilli, Detzo, Hungry Wolf, etc, ad infinitum

Monster Name: None

Steps: Attempting to gain Fame 3 for MH upgrade quest beginning Sunday June 19. 6 times throughout the day I became stuck at NPC quest givers or at Flaco (Fame NPC Port Bastok) forcing me to log out, re-log and try again. Frequently had to wait up to 3 minutes to even get the dialogue, but in most cases, nothing happened. Just stuck. As soon as I logged in this morning, back to doing quests and the first NPC I went to, Wahid (Bastok Markets) resulted in stuck again, log off, re-log, try again. Back to Flaco, stuck, 3 minute wait for the dialogue.

With respect, enough of these incidents have been reported to warrant some kind of informative feedback other than the standard response. Everyone is aware of PS2 memory problems. It has been mentioned by SE in the past, but nothing seems to be happening to alleviate the issue. Reading the forums and seeing all the Flame posts about PS2 users holding back FFXI development I think it is time for SE to consider making a definitive statement about plans for continuing/discontinuing PS2 support.

Same platform 11:00am MDT stuck AGAIN at Flaco (Fame NPC, Port Bastok) only 5 people in zone.

I know it is troublesome that these freezes are frustrating your progress in the game. However, these would be best handled the Technical Support, so I am moving your post to the correct forum.

Oh great :( and I thought it had been deleted and posted again.

Just exactly how will Tech Support help? I have checked my files, no errors and I cannot do a clean re-install because my original discs were stolen in a home burglary more than a year ago.

Thank you for your response, but I have an unhappy feeling that the issues that are being experienced by a lot of people are going to be ignored.
