As you can see by the discussion taking place, there are many facets involved in the current design of not being able to invite while engaged. We checked in with the dev. team and were informed that because we have not designed content centered around the need to swap party members, we do not plan on changing this. However, depending on the content we add in the future, there is a possibility that we may change our policy or implement specific exceptions.

There will always be "what about [xyz] instance!" where being unable to invite is a hindrance, but overall the system was designed for specific purposes. We do appreciate the comments and feedback presented, and I'll be sure to pass these along as well.

Meaning who cares? it'll rarely happen.

Sorry. this is unacceptable. Please don't think by simply acknowledging ("There will always be "what about [xyz] instance!" where being unable to invite is a hindrance") this, that it somehow justifies your "Design Policy".

Time to start getting prepared for a policy change now before everyone explodes.

Here is perhaps one of the biggest reason why:

They may be able to get around this by not booting the lost player for something like 10-20min. They could just have their name gray/red till they log back in.

That was incredibly disappointing and speaks volumes on what can be expected going forward...

Perhaps, then, they could consider ghosting a player who disconnects so that they're still a member when they reconnect, if they reconnect within a certain time frame.

You win or fail with what you have. I don't know what it is about this generation that never even considers the possibility that they will have to deal with the slightest inconvenience without it being removed from their paths. Society is full of inconveniences to keep bad people from doing bad things. What do you do? You deal with it.

Small price to pay for keeping the fight itself honest and balanced. Look past the most direct inconvenience, and see the most important ones that this prevents.

You DC. You either win with what you have or you fail and try again.
The reward: Everyone who wins that fight actually deserved to, instead of 80% of people winning the fight with cheap weasel chickenwussing.

Convenient saying that now... I'm positive you'd be singing a different tune if you popped an NM using your hard earned items and lost your healer or tank. Sure you can try to survive till they get back but as it stands theres no point since they won't be able to rejoin. Congrats on time wasted; I guess thats what makes this game hard.

Well you could disengage from the monster and run away, then add the person, it only takes like 20 seconds to leave combat if everyone disengages. And monsters dont have instant regen, it takes awhile before they begin to regen hp back.
You would lose sp/exp for attacking it with less hp, but for experience mobs, its one kill, and for NMs you re generally looking for the drop over the exp anyhow.

    When someone Dcs,
either kill the mob then add the person
disengage and run away then add the person and re attempt.

The connection lost on an NM is the only real reason its a problem imo, and disengaging while not perfect would work in that situation 99% of the time.

I do like the definitive answer (well as definitive as we re going to get anyhow) that was given, so now you can either take it or leave it, the system is as it is.

Too bad, so sad that your plans to Archer->Multishot->change to thaumaturge->chainspell->shadowsear->shadowsear->thaumatank punishing barb->archer archer archer archer->pull connection plug if got hate->relog->get in party->archer archer archer archer archer...aren't going to work.

Look, we all know exactly how you all planned to win difficult endgame content. Knew it since beta. You're just going to have to come up with a better idea. You think the above adds "tactics" and "challenge." The rest of us just think it's pathetic.
