Missing Genders: A request for Male Miqote, Female Highlander, and Female Roegadyn

Greetings everyone!

We can definitely see the enthusiasm being shown in this topic, and it's not something we're overlooking! We are currently discussing with the development team now and will report back once we receive a response.

April 13th:

Hey everyone, sorry for the delay in getting this response back to you!

We talked to Yoshida and one of the things he mentioned was that the number of people wanting a female Roegadyn was pretty unexpected! He wanted us to let you know that the team will do their best to introduce missing genders alongside the launch of the PS3 version.

July 13th:

Hey gang! Here are the questions and answers that were gathered and discussed by our French and German community reps!

I want to thank you and your Development Team and Community Team for all the support. I am so Excited about the update that you will be working on this subject for us, and I anxiously wait for the PS3 Release of the Game.

Thank You So Much Square and Enix. Square I have been one of your biggest fans since back in the NES and SNES days. I grew up on your software, your stories have always hit home with me in many ways. I've cried many tears playing through your Epics. Enix you too have brought me many great memories over the years.

When Final Fantasy XI first came out I was awestruck, it was an awesome endeavor and I was on board the moment you revealed it to the world. I played and enjoyed Final Fantasy XI for close to 9 Years playing multiple characters of all the races and enjoyed myself the entire time. Final Fantasy XI has such great memories for me as do many of the other Square and Enix Games. In total I've spent more time playing your products then any other Developer and Publisher on the planet.

Yes people call me a Fanboy, but I deserve that title, it isn't an insult to me.

With this update you've just even more so reinvigorated my faith in your Company, your Brand, and your Future. I hope Final Fantasy XIV gives me just as much if not more joy and excitement as XI did over the last decade. And I hope you guys have just as much fun delivering Epic Stories, Diverse Content, and most of all Long Living Memories.

WEBSITE FEEDBACK: Players can report bugs encountered on the forums as well as offer suggestions on improving official FINAL FANTASY XIV websites. In the future, the bug report form on the SQUARE ENIX Support Center will be consolidated in the forum.

That is not for XIV suggestions, but website feedback.

Also its not really a suggestion. The suggestions already been made and the staff have already commented on possibilities of implementation. This is more of a request of a final answer on if we'll ever get them.


Currently as it stands I have nothing holding me to my characters in XIV because I can't get any of them to look appealing to me, the made the race I did play in XI for so long, Female Elvaan, much more dainty and less muscular and physically imposing. And lack of character connection means I wont be playing long stands of time at once and ultimately will leave unsatisfied. I'm personally in the camp requesting Female Roegadyn, or even Female Highlander.

The purpose of this forum is for players to submit feedback and suggestions on FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone, FINAL FANTASY XIV Forum and other official websites concerning FINAL FANTASY XIV. In order for us to be able to offer a better service, we would like to hear your opinions.

The forum structure is indeed confusing, but at the moment that one seems to be the appropriate forum for suggestions.

Umh, the fact that you don't have a race/gender that looks appealing to your (honestly quite picky) tastes, doesn't mean that they should create new ones or new combinations especially for you

This especially with the current status of the game, eyecandy isn't exactly what I'd call a priority.

I'm going to have to politely disagree with you, here. I truly believe that having a character suited to your personal tastes can give the individual the desire and joy needed to continue playing a game. Perhaps it is not a priority for you, but I am on the same page with this thread author. The character creation design for this game (in general) is far too restraining, which STILL has not allowed me to create a character desirable to my tastes. You're calling her picky, but this is common concern for any mmo. As far as male and female counterparts for Miquo'te and Galka (completely forget how to spell the new race-name! :P), I think this is a step in the right direction. In my eyes, I think that customization is part of the fun of an online game. Besides, I think many of us are sick of looking at this game as a XI-concept clone with upgraded graphics. I am perfectly alright with Square Enix pushing away from the concepts of Final Fantasy XI, and branching into other options. I'm not saying your priorities for game improvement are wrong, I'm just saying that what you get out of a game may differ from what someone else finds as high-priority. So in short, I'm all the gender add-ons (plus more customization, if that even becomes and option in the near future)!
