    Error 20524

Anyone else get this error when the FF14 Updater is running? It gets to 100% on both bars then terminates the program with this error.

    Error 20524
    _________________________________
It provides no other information other than that. I've tried updating all my drivers, bios, and re-downloading the patch several times, using different methods each time, to no avail. Any ideas of what this means and how to attack this issue?

The standard recommendation is to re-install FFXIV.

But first you may try simply deleting specific FFXIV folders under My Documents - My games. This will force the patcher to re-create the folders and go back to look for older patches. Start by backing up the FFXIV folder to your desktop. Then, delete the original "downloads" folder. Launch the patcher and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, delete the whole FFXIV folder.

If that doesn't work, re-install FFXIV entirely. Note that the FFXIV folder under My Documents is not deleted when you uninstall FFXIV - this folder contains certain patch information along with your UI settings and saved character models.

Another possible solution is to change the date in your game.ver file to today's date, or an earlier date.

So I tried the first two methods you outlined. The first one(deleting the DL folder) actually led to a new set of Errors, a list of 3 i didn't write down. Then second method(deleting the FF14 Docs file) ended with the same 20524 Error. I'm attempting to install the game again from scratch, I've had to do this after every single update, SE Devs please shed some light on why this is happening. How is it that your update corrupts my game files every time, EVERY TIME.

    - Also I don't know how to do the file date editing, is there a resource on how to do that.

    *Update*
I reinstalled everything from scratch again(4 times), same result with same error. Since I got CE, every time they release a new patch I have to uninstall the game. This happened after the 11/25 patch also and I couldn't play the game until the next patch was released.(Which if I recall was a few weeks of not being able to finish the update due to this same error.) I'm afraid this gonna happen again, is there any other solutions to this problem?

Under Program Files (x86), locate the Square Enix\FFXIV folder. In that folder you'll find your game.ver file. Open the files with notepad, and change the date to that of the most recent update:

    2011.04.21.0000

Back the file up on your desktop before doing this. Be sure to hit save before closing the file. If you get an "access denied" error, you may need to copy the file to your desktop first, save it, then stick it back in your FFXIV folder.
