All Worlds Maintenance (Sept. 11)

In case you haven’t seen the news announcement posted on Lodestone, we will be holding a long maintenance on Wednesday, September 11th from 5:00 p.m. until September 12th at 3:00 a.m. This maintenance will address the below three things, which Yoshida mentioned in his post:

1. Substantially increase the number of Worlds.
2. Create a third duty finder group to further alleviate server stress.
3. Increase the number of servers used for instances.

We apologize for any inconveniences this maintenance may cause, but appreciate your understanding as we do our best to enhance the servers to ensure comfortable playing conditions.

Will this address the horrible latency many of us are experiencing? My ping constantly says Send 0 Receive 5000, that shouldn't even be possible. Tons and tons of data suggests that people with my issue are being routed too many places to connect. Can I get a response? I seriously don't know what to do about this other than try and get legal help to get attention, I feel like I've been had.

Is the plan to always do maintenance on American servers during American prime playing time? Running it from 5pm pst to 3am pst means you hit the exact window which makes it impossible for us to play.

Also, is there a plan to add right-click blacklist or report spam to shout/whisper gold sell spammers?

The time frame for maintenance is worldwide, as all servers are being brought down at the same time.

With a 10 hour long maintenance, it's unfortunately hard to schedule it decently for more than a single region.

5PM - 3AM in NA (PDT)
9AM - 7PM in Japan
2AM - 12PM in Europe (CET)


As for the right-click blacklist, they did say they were working on it in a different thread, though there wasn't an ETA on implementation. Hopefully it's soon. Or, alternatively, hopefully they get the RMT spam under control.

its because they are catering to the jp working hours. our primetime is their morning time. so they do maintenance while most of them are at work or sleeping in. to where as we're left with nothing to do since it sour prime time. idk why their doing it with this game. they never did it with ffxi. ffxi maint usually started around 8a.m. wel in their primes days anyway. but then again sometimes it ran up to 6pm est.

Speaking as someone who worked for seven years in the ISP business, routing isn't something SE can really control. You should be taking it up with your ISP. Take a traceroute, and submit it to your ISP's support desk.

Problem is ISP's generally only fix issues that exist on their own side. Once it leaves their perimeters, they don't give a shit.
Since the issue seems to be between SE and ISP rather than with one or the other, the only thing that can be hoped for is that SE complains upstream and the ones responsible in the middle fixes it.

That's not ping... that is packets sent/received. In heavily populated areas your receive is higher, because there's more information about more people that your client needs...
