    PS3 Targeting Option needed ASP

Listen, as any PS3 player has probably figured out any event with more than a few mobs is hell on ps3. (Cough FATE). The targeting is terrible, why it doesn't target the closest monster to you first is beyond me.

At the very least please add this as a configurable option, PLEASE.

Also, I could be wrong but on the ps3 is there no way to hot key to target another party members target? I know you can type <tt> and I could even do a macro but I don't really have room for that and I'd like it to be one key press. I think I heard on keyboard this can be done pressing T.

    Tl;dr targeting is a nightmare on ps3

    Use analog stick + x

Point in the direction of the mob you wish to target and press x

Sure it's not perfect but neither is tab targetting

You have to be facing the target you want. With no other targets selected and it will get you on the closest target. You use macros for specific targeting action such as /assist. There is also target filter that give you 4 customized targeting options. The only unavoidable miss target i tend to deal with are egi's and carbuncales cause the game counts them as enemies. And no matter what you do will target them first. Npc's seem to fit in there as well but you can filter them out its just the pets that piss me off.

Something I just recently found out that I wish I had known all along, while holding a trigger pressing the opposite shoulder button will target mobs and only mobs. I use xbox controller but for example on ps3 while holding R2 you can press L1 to target the nearest enemy and continue pressing it to cycle through the other enemies near you. Or hold L2 and press R1 to target. Works perfect for fates since it ignores other players and their pets, chocobos, minions, and anything else.

change your target setting in character configuration to not target non party members and npcs.

    All done.

Even with those settings you will still end up targeting everybodies carbuncles and egis and chocobos.

Hold R2 or L2, then press L1 or R1 to switch between enemies only.

There's also the "Player Macros" that you should look into. There are macros of claims you can create. I personally have one for closest target, another one that I modify before each dungeon to target the same mob the tank is hitting and a last one to target the closest mob attacking me. I don't play on PS3 but I play on computer with a controller (but macros are as effective in both). Macros, just like in FFXI back in the days, are a great way to play.
